Premier Inn Torquay Hotel
Ranked #18 of 85 Hotels in Torquay
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Stayed here 15th and 16th March 2012.

The hotel is situated nicely next to the beach and has a wonderful view of the bay.

The rooms are what you come to expect in a Travel Inn - lots of room, with a large comfortable bed.

We had two peaceful nights there and were fully satisfied with the facilities.

Parking is free for guests.

Beware the bar closes at 11am which isn't a massive problem but worth knowing when you get back in from Torquay

There are two main ways into Torquay from the hotel:

1) walk along the beach heading towards the marina
2) come out of the hotel car park and head up the hill. When you are over the brow of the hill and heading down, turn right at the traffic lights.

Sunday dinner in the Weatherspoons in the marina was excellent value.

Good atmosphere and great staff in the Cyder Press pub.

We have just returned from the Premier inn with out son and his friend. The rooms were fantastic value for money and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The rooms are clean and comfortable although in our room the fan was stuck on in the bathroom. The location of this place is beautiful with good views across the sea, and a pleasant walk to the harbour. Disappointingly when we went to bed there was a TV blaring out until 6 am the next morning. It was difficult to locate whether the noise was from the adjoining room or below us. It felt like someone had gone to bed and fallen asleep with the TV on, as at 6 in the morning we heard an alarm go off and the resident leave shortly after and the TV was switched off. We searched the room at 3am for a telephone to contact reception but the room did not have one. We did discuss this with reception and were satisfied with their response. All the staff were pleasant and efficient. This incident would not stop us from booking the hotel again.

I have stayed in this hotel many times for work purposes, as other reviews state the hotel is in 2 sections a newer and older section. I have stayed in both and the older section is still very adequte and the rooms are too a good standard. The new section is much the same but obviously everything is that much fresher and brighter and the rooms are slightly better laid out. Restaurant for both evenings meals and breakfasts are very good. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic hotel situated close to the sea!

The hotel is in two parts, a new block and a refurbished hotel, we stayed in the refurbished hotel part, the room was fresh and smartly decorated with fantastic clean modern bathroom facilities, we had a side sea view.

Car parking is free but is limited, there is a council owned car park beyond the howl car park and one across the road, car park tickets are valid across Torquay and surrounding areas, so if you buy a ticket you can park in Paignton/Totnes, with the same ticket, so it is worth just getting a 24 hour ticket.

I would recommend eating breakfast at the hotel, it is charged at £8 for a full buffet - with children eating for free (under 16 years), there are a few pubs/cafes serving breakfast but the quality does not compare to the hotel, and the local Wetherspoons is not a nice place to eat.

we recently stayed four nights at the Torquay premier Inn . Our room location was in the Newish extension building .
Check in went really well with a friendly receptionist, who provided full information on location of room and organised the car park ticket . We also booked the breakfast for the four days , again all was explained .
The room was excellent and spotless clean with a sea view ,( from A Torquay hotel window !!!)
Breakfasts were good , food was hot and the self service dishes were well stocked .
We ate in the adjoining beefeater restaurant three evenings and had good service each time, though booking a table especially at weekends would be advisable .
Would recommend a stay at this Hotel and as usual with my experiences of Premier Inn it was clean , good friendly staff , and quiet at night . The restaurant and bar staff were all polite and gave good service, and all staff, hotel ,restaurant, and bar, were a credit to premier inn and beefeater . Look forward to staying again

Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights 15-17 March. Rooms were in the newer block linked by a long internal corridor to reception and the Beefeater. Car parking and an external door are also to the outside of this block. Rooms spotless, comfortable and warm. Location of hotel is fab - half a mile from the centre and a very pleasant promenade walk away. Sadly, we were unlucky enough to be next to a couple of young lads. Bad enough while they were getting ready to go out. At 3:30am returning drunk and with female company, unbearable. With no phone in the room and no mobile signal (ground floor below parking level) it meant a walk to reception! Staff in the hotel dealt with the matter promptly although it was half an hour before a taxi came for the girls. It seemed to be a busy night as the Police had been called to a problem on the top floor! The access to the upper block seemed to be the meeting point for the groups going out and worse returning (outside our window). Reception readily refunded one nights stay for our room but given Torquay's reputation as a stag and hen destination and the impression from hotel staff that this wasn't an isolated incident, I will be thinking carefully before rebooking. Shame because without the problems on the Saturday night, I would be giving this hotel 5 stars and raving about it.

Room Tip: Ground floor of new block at the back is below ground level. No 3 signal but could get a very weak T...
