We just got back (just about) from this hotel. After driving some 250 miles we got to the hotel and was informed there wasn't any car parking spaces - but for a small fee (£2) we could leave our car in the car park (deal done with local council) overnight - so whose responsability is it if there were a break in? - well we didn't get broken into but still felt it was wrong to pay for this fee - and by the way this deal was only overnight - i think it was £9 per day if you had to leave your car there. The staff were very polite and friendly. The room was very clean (faultless) although there was a lingering smell akin to a dead donkey - we just got some air freshner - no problem. We ate in the restuarant which seemed very nice, however my family (inc 2 small children - 1 a baby) all ended up with bad tummys - (as my wife would call it). We can't say for sure if it was a bug we all picked up or food from the restuarant - trying to be objective... However on last night, we were all still fragile and we ate in the restuarant - as we unsure if it was the food (only in retrospect did we conclude this). The food arrived and my wife's chicken was very undercooked and raw - an unusual dish really.. take one chicken.. defrost it a bit, cook it round the edges - making sure it's still rubbery and pink in the middle - garnish and serve .. i call this "chicken a la throw your guts up". we sent it back and to be fair the manager was very good - taking this all into account - what would you conclude. If any other reviewers say about the food avoid the restuarant. If not maybe we were just unlucky and all caught a bug

Room Tip: family roooms come in two sizes? - try to get bigger one maybe a seaview room

We booked this hotel on-line after trawling through loads of B&Bs, guest houses and smaller hotels and thought that we 'couldn't go wrong' with a famous brand. How right we were!! We arrived on a Friday, mid afternoon and found a parking space quite easily. The check in process was very quick and easy and the member of staff was friendly. We were in the 'new building' - The room was just as you see on the Television adverts with the corporate purple colour. It was very clean, a decent size with a double bed which was comfortable although quite high and a single bed made up for our 5 year old daughter. It had a small wardrobe area with drawers and a kettle with tea and coffee etc. The hairdryer was good to use and quite powerful. A flat screen T.V and desk/dresser. The bathroom was modern and clean with soap dispensers by the basin and shower. We had no problems with noise either from inside or outside. The breakfasts were good which we had pre paid for - we had the buffet style which includes everything from the usual hot stuff, toast, croisants, muffins etc, juices, fruit and yoghurts. You could go and help yourself as many times as you like. The hot drinks were from a vending machine, however, it was provided by Costa coffee so the coffee was freshly ground and you got good choices too. The location of hotel was perfect, opposite the beach, about a 5 minute walk from the harbour and shops. We found the reception staff very friendly who also helped us with lots of our queries about places to go. We loved Torquay and the Hotel and would definitely return again.

have used this hotel before, and came back for several reasons.
1. on site parking
2. excellent location - right on the beach front and walking distance to town
3. friendly staff
4. on site restaurant with full english breakfast as an option
5. comfortable bed and pillows
6. decent sized room
7. clean and tidy
8. predictable facilities
9. nice on site bar for meeting friends
10. everything that we require from a hotel room - we were there to see family so were out most of the time and just wanted clean, neat, hotel room with predictable standards.

certainly met our needs.

Noise here is a problem from rooms above as you can here people walking around. The location is great though and within striking distance from the centre of Torquay and on the bus route to Paignton and Brixham. If arriving by train the walk is around 10 minutes without any hills.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room to avoid noise from above.

We booked two nights for just shy of £200. The price was based on a family room. The check in staff were not very friendly. Nevertheless we checked in an were offered a room in the "old building". The room was mouldy and had a double bed and a mattress placed on the floor! This mattress was meant to be our teenage sons bed. We complained and was moved to a room in the new building. Otherwise the hotel was in a good spot.
