Whitburn Guest House
Ranked #117 of 149 Torquay B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 8, 2013

We stayed for three nights at the Whitburn which is a very friendly and well run business. Joe and Ann made us feel very welcome and their local knowledge regarding attractions and places to go is first class. They could not have been more welcoming or more helpful!

The food is excellent (slightly limited choice but very tasty) and the rooms are basic but very clean and tidy.

You are close to various places of interest/activities e.g cinema, ten pin bowling, restaurants, amusements, the town centre, museum and a fantastic marina. And if you're not good with hills (like us!) there is a regular cheap bus service or taxi ride (it cost us £5.25 to get from the town centre back the to B&B, which was very reasonable of an evening), or even a lift in a nearby carpark which cuts out most of the incline for you!

We have been twice and will go back again!!!

My family and I spend 1 week of our holiday in Torquay in july 2013. And we really enjoyed that week.
The guest house is really a nice place to stay. Very clean and cosy rooms, great breakfast, a bus stop right outside and last but not least the hosts. Anne and Joe are very pleasant, helpfull in any way always with a smile and a funny remark.
We really will recommend this guest house and area as a place worth visiting. There are som many things to see and places to go, and staying at Whitburn is worth a try.

Great stay the hosts couldn't have been more brilliant, for the money this was fantastic, the furniture was very warming and the rooms were clean. Joe and Ann were very friendly and the breakfasts were delicious. The man in our family doesn't eat beans or tomato's but Joe put double everything on so he had more than plenty. It was quiet so you had a great nights sleep and a plus is there's a bus stop right outside!
If you want the Ritz you pay for it!

We stayed two nights and felt well provided for. For the price the room was well equiped with en-suite, digital TV + dvd player that we made use of and fresh milk for drinks. 10 minutes downhill walk into town if you find the cut-through footpaths, but we used taxies to get back. It's a short journey but incredibly steep so the taxi was cheap but well worth it. Lovely breakfast although 8am is quite a bit earlier than some other B&Bs I've stayed at... we did consider skipping it but in the end did have it as we'd paid for it. Check-out is early at 9:30am too. The owners seem very friendly and flexible though so if you wanted a slightly later check-out or something, I bet they'd be okay about it. Would stay again except now I know how mountainous Torquay is and not having a car, I might be tempted to look for somewhere with less of a climb to get back from the town centre - not a reflection of the excellent service though.
