We stayed 1 night at the Walnut Lodge and we were very pleased with the experience.
When we arrived we received a warm welcome and were offered a cup of tea in the lounge.
Our bags were taken to our rooms and we enjoyed a good night in comfortable beds.
The rooms are clean and well furnished as are the bathrooms.
Next morning we had a delicious breakfast made to order with quality products.
This B&B is highly recommended and well priced. In my opinion it is worth a 5 star !

We stayed here as a couple in October 2011 staying from Monday through til Wednesday, we paid a little extra to go in the Superior King Size and we weren't disappointed.

We were greeted by the owner, Lynda and Neil as we walked through the door, and were treat like long lost friends. It was the week of the heavy storms in Devon and we were drenched having walked up from the station, but this was no trouble at all. We were taken up to our room, and despite there being cartons of milk on the side, we had been brought a jug of fresh milk up - 'tea always tastes better with fresh milk' we were told!

The superior is definitely worth the money - the bed was outstanding, the decor and the furnishings modern and classy, the cosmetics in the bathroom were clearly high quality and all in all a very good overall package. The room was spotlessly clean.

Likewise breakfast matched the accomodation - a very nice range, English breakfast freshly cooked using obviously high quality produce. Although you could have had a choice of cooked options.

When we were leaving they looked sad to see us go, with the couple being from our neck of the woods we'd had a chat or two about it while we were there and were told to give our regards to Yorkshire and come back soon. Something which we would happily do.

Now, the bad news, if you're not travelling here by car, and don't want to pay for a taxi then you're going to have fun. The hotel is a good 20 minutes walk uphill from the Station if you go direct, if you end up going the rwong way and walking through town, it's more like 45 minutes. Although it was blowing water in off the Channel it was that stormy.

Likewise, a walk to town is up and down hill both ways, so either get a taxi, learn the bus timetable or prepare yourself. It wasn't a problem for us, but I'm conscious that for some people this could be a problem.

The only other caveat is that it appears that the proprietors have changed since we went, so bear that in mind.

If they have kept up the same high standards as the previous owners then I;m sure a trip to Walnut Lodge would be well worth it.

This B&B is run beautifully and incredibly efficiently. The hostess is friendly, warm, and helpful. The rooms are fab -- lovely big comfy beds and fresh crisp linens. Peaceful and quiet, too. The furnishings are tasteful and modern. Very stylish, yet warm and welcoming.

The breakfast is outstanding as well -- fresh strawberries and blueberries, lovely muesli, and a wide range of yummy cooked breakfasts. The coffee is outstanding.

This B&B is definitely a cut above! We recommend it highly! :)

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. We booked the room through bookings.com and had mentioned in the extra requests box that we would be bringing our newborn son with us. When we arrived at the B&B, the owner met us and was rather surprised to see our baby! She explained she hadn't seen our request and that they didn't normally take babies. However, she then went out of her way to make all 3 of us feel so welcome. When we didn't make it down to breakfast the first morning, she brought us breakfast up to our room and the second morning, cooked us breakfast later on, so we could have more time to get ready and pack…and it was delicious and beautifully presented.

The room itself was lovely. Warm, cozy and very tastefully decorated. It even had a fridge and lovely extras such as free bottled water and nice biscuits.

We often come to Torquay to visit friends and relatives and have stayed in a number of B&Bs and hotels. Walnut Lodge is by far the best and I would recommend it to anyone and most definitely stay there again myself. It’s also extremely good value for money.

Room Tip: Check with the owner if you are travelling with children - she may recommend the room on the ground...

We have just returned from an enjoyable three night stay at Walnut Lodge and we are happy to add to the good reviews. Lovely welcome with a cup of coffee in the lounge. The owner took time to show us a map of the local area and later she recommended some restaurants when we asked. The room was nice with modern furniture and a lovely bathroom, all spotlessly clean. Lots of lovely small touches made the room perfect for our needs. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. The walk into town was pleasant along the promenade and no steep hills to negotiate! I would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a quality little hotel.

Arrived to a warm welcome from Tao, and a much appreciated pot of coffee. Tao provided us with a map of the local area, and some suggestions on places to visit. Our twin room was spacious and comfortable, and very clean. Good location, in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of Torquay town, but within easy walking distance. A very good choice at breakfast and very friendly service. A lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: Room one is next to the dining room on the ground floor, but it's lovely and big.

I stayed at this lovely B&B on a business trip with a colleague. One of the best b&b's I have come across in the UK. Terrific value for a very comfortable, restful stay. The room was tastefully decorated, very clean, quiet and comfortable with all the amenities I needed. Breakfast was very tasty and the service and hospitality all round was more than could be expected - friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. We were greeted with a cup of tea in the lounge which was much appreciated after the drive. I would recommend this unreservedly to anyone looking for a b&b in the area. Exceptionally good value.
