My husband and I found this little pub/restaurant by chance. The welcome we received was excellent, as was the superb fish & chip lunch we had fresh fish from Brixham. Very clean tables and cutlery. Went back on the Sunday night for the live music from the early sixties, and another delicious meal of chilli con carne. Shame we do not live nearer as we would make this our local. It was good that the landlord recognised us from our first visit and made us feel totally at home here.

Nice traditional pub with a restaueant to one side. The food is actually very good home made but I think priced on the high side for what it is. Given there is a Michellin recommended brasserie around the corner selling food at similar prices the food here lacked attention to detail you'd expect for the price.
I think they have a good head chef doing the main dishes but the quality of the sides was poor.
Service was quick and friendly if a little disorganised at times. The music choice was somewhat bizarre, mainly 70's disco hits!
This is a shame because for just a little effort it could be a very good instead of average restaurant.

We went here as it was recommended by the hotel where we were staying. the place is very quaint in and out side, this place is full of history.Ordered a drink from a smartly dress bar person who delivered theses in a timely manner ( the place is really for the real ale and Whiskey drinkers) this was delivered without much of a second look at us really, I then asked about the history of the place and really did not response. Point one. I then tried to start a conversation but this didn't really wash either so we just sat and drank our drink. After the 1st drink we decided to move to another space to see what happened. Nothing changed so asked for another drink got served and handed a card containing the history when asked the question in a different manner. We then moved again after getting another drink and said can we have a menu and that we were recommended to this place nothing back really. Anyway we ordered a meal and the food was great, so we inquired about the restaurant for Sunday and was told must book so we did. We returned on the Sunday to a slightly warmer welcome and went in and had a fine meal the matre d was very good, as was the food. Little changes like some charm would take this place to the next level there is more to being a bar person than just pulling the pint and putting it on the counter, and a smile and banter goes a long way as cost nothing. DJ the owner seemed very nice and was happy to listen to my comments.

A real ale pub serving good food. Make sure you look out for this pub as it is tucked away up a side alleyway. Full of history and listed building.
