A well located hotel in Torquay. Loads of car parking and staff very pleasant. I was a bit dubious at first after reading reviews but ended up pleasantly surprised. Stayed 5 nights in August and had a wonderful time exploring Torquay. Tried the food on one occasion but only moderate, small portions and full english breakfast was a rasher of bacon, beans, sausage and a egg! (loads of toast though).
Has a nice outdoor pool if the weather permits. Some reviews mention doors slamming, i have to agree as the room doors have those springs that close automatically, however did not bother me as i always take earplugs when staying in hotels. If your after a well located budget hotel with car parking then the Cavendish ticks all the boxes.

Bit of a late review, Lovely place, big spacious room, food was lovely, had to laugh at the amount of green leafs on top of the meals! Both pools were clean and lovely and we had a good laugh playing ping pong in the Games room :) I would just say avoid the lift, it's a little dated, although we went in twice and didn't have a problem just a couple of scared faces! Lol Torquay is beautiful, ideal location, close to everything, had a wonderful stay!

Stayed at the cavendish with my partner for the weekend a total of 3 days. It was £25 per person per night so cost us a total of £150 for the 3 nights. Breakfast was included with this price but we didn't bother to go down for this cause didn't want to be getting up early on a holiday.
The parking for the hotel is very good, it's very large and plenty of spaces right outside the hotel. The staff on reception didn't look particularly happy to be working at the hotel at all, the women didn't even crack a smile.
We had to use the lift to get to our room, the lift had a funny smell to it and was so tiny I doubt it would be suitable for a disabled person with a wheelchair. While walking to our room i noticed a lot of the doors were a bit shabby, some of them had odd numbers on them and some of the numbers had fallen off completely. Our room itself wasn't too bad at all. It was quite spacious and had a double bed and a single bed in it. The bedding itself was very dated but on pulling the bedding back and bottom sheet and pillows were crisp white which was nice. The shower in our bedroom worked fine and we always had hot water. We had a kettle and also tea bags, little milk pots and sugar but not very much and it didn't last us very long. Our tele had freeview which on the first night we had a bit of trouble with, I did ring down to reception for help and was told someone would be up right away to which no one came, it wasn't until I went downstairs a second time that a member of staff came upstairs and sorted the tele out for us.
I slept well and the beds were quite comfy, our room overall was quite good.
This hotel is dated and could do with modernisation but for the price you pay of £25 pp per night I think it was fine. It is a 2* hotel after all but I wont e returning again.

Room Tip: rooms on the south side are quieter

Spent the last two nights here, having come to Torquay to watch football.
Very comfortable bed, slept well, but very noisy. Can hear people's conversations word for word as they walk by the room, and it would seem a family of elephants are in the room above. Good price compared to other hotels around here though.

Hi, just soberd up from a great cricket tour to Torquay, hosted by Rich at the Cavendish, all our group loved it, allthough a few moaning minis ,but that is what you get with a party of 18,
staff very friendly, cannot coment on the breakfast as I never made it to the table, who gets up in the morning when your on tour, the same guy that ironed his pyjamas and said the waters cold, ha ha who cares great time, I would apologize to anyone that was within earshot of the young ladies that stayed with us, they do get giggly after a few drinks, and our party was not a true reflection on the rest of the residents.
