We visited this hotel as part of a week long tour with Robinsons Coach tours from NW England. Well done Robinsons for including this superb hotel in your brochure. The hotel could not be better! Super staff right down from top management to waiters and cleaning staff. All deserve highest praise. Evening entertainment was top class with good music and comedy. Had small problem with shower but was fixed within 2 hours of notifying reception. Food was delicious!
Robinsons coaches deserve much praise for their comfort and entertaining tours out with perhaps some of the best drivers in UK. That is easy for me to say as I am an ex HGV driver (Retired) so I know what I am speaking about. Well done to all! Bernie and Millie.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the tennis courts and swimming pool.

I have just returned from this hotel after spending 7 days with them we went with Robinsons and Charlie the driver was exellent very imformative, also a new coach only two weeks old. The hotel run by Hedi & Barry was really clean and my partner and myself had a large room at the front with sea views. The food was great a good choice every day, and of exellent quality, the staff who were mainly local english could not help you enough. the entertainment was good. I think the standard of this hotel can be put down to Hedi and husband Barry, as I have been to other Robinsons hotel and they are a long way off the cleanliness and smooth running of this one. We were given an upgrade room but listening to other guests everyone seemed to be happy with their rooms, We will be back.

Travelled with Robinsons coaches who were fantastic as usual, after the Ocean View last year Isle of Wight i was slightly dissapointed with our room at Abbey Lawn. I had paid for a front facing sea view room and you will see from photo that is not what we got!
Our room was shabby and quite unkempt.

Food at Hotel was lovely good choice, always piping hot. Staff were lovely except one waiter who could have done with smiling a little bit more, thankfully he wasnt our waiter and so it didnt really matter however i felt sorry for the table he was waiting on. Scott the bar lad was adorable, The maintanance chap was a jolly chap and he mended my mothers wheelchair one day!
Entertainment was ok except one night (wish i had his name) but he was fantastic i would happily pay to see him again.
Pool was lovely and although i didnt use the Gym it seemed very well equiped.
If our room had been up to scratch i would have given full marks!

This is the third time we have visited the Abbey Lawn Hotel at Torquay, and this stay was just as good as the last two. This hotel was recommended to us by my parents who have been here numerous times before and have always spoke highly of it.

We booked with Robinsons who pick you up from your home town by mini bus/coach to Lymm and then coach direct to the hotel and your luggage is delivered to your room shortly after arrival. This is an extremely efficient service and works exceptionally well.

The Abbey Lawn is expertly managed by Barry with the help of his lovely wife, Heidi, and very friendly husband and wife team, Randall and Kate. All the staff we have ever met are all very friendly, always smiling, and always eager to please. You will receive the warmest of welcomes here and it is worth getting to know the staff, they all have a brilliant sense of humour and can really make a difference to your stay, if you let them.

We love the location of the Abbey Lawn, set on a hillside overlooking Torquay Bay and its tennis courts. If you pay a little extra you get a Front Facing room which receives the sun all day (if the sun is shining!) and if you book a Premier Room you not only get a Front Facing room but extras like Cadburys Hot Chocolate sachets, Holicks, biscuits and a basket of fruit. We have always booked a Premier Room and we can highly recommend these rooms for their location, larger size and extras. These rooms are very comfortable and I have always had a good night's sleep, which for me as an extremely light sleeper, is a real bonus!

Some of the bathrooms are a little small, but perfectly adequate, with heated towel rails, and ours have always had a bath with shower over, and the showers are very efficient. You get complimentary Neutrogena bath products too.

The chambermaids do a good job here, we have never had a cause to complain, this is a big plus for us. If you see them they are always smiling and greet you with "Good Morning".

The waiter staff work very hard and do their best to accommodate your food preferences, you NEVER hear them saying, "Oh I don't know if the Chef will do that" like we have heard at other hotels, and they try to be as speedy with your order as they can. They are aways focussed and very busy, but will take time to have a quick chat with you, and ask if everything was ok for you when they take your plates away afterwards. We have always tipped the waiting staff at the end of our holiday, they definitely deserve it!

There is always a good variety of food available on the ever changing 3 course menu, always a meat dish, like pork, turkey, beef, ham, chicken, always a fish dish (I highly recommend the fish dishes), always a vegetarian dish, and an alternative choice, one that I would describe as a more "homely" dish like Cottage Pie, lasagne, a pasta bake and so on. And not forgetting a salad, where you choose beef, ham, chicken, tuna or cheese. We never had any complaints with the food, it was always served piping hot, and with a separate plate of vegetables per person, you don't have to share one between two or four like other hotels! And we were always felt full afterwards, the meals are very plentiful.

We must give a special mention to Scott the Barman, he is a lovely young man and comes round each night for your drinks orders and is there each evening running the bar, very efficient, always smiling, extremely pleasant and always willing to have a chat with you. You're a star Scott, and sorry we missed you on our last night, you were supporting your home town football team!

As if this wasn't enough to make your stay a very memorable one, there is a lovely indoor swimming pool with shower rooms, a lovely sun terrace with beautiful views, entertainment nearly every night, a comfortable conservatory and lounge area and walking distance to the seafront, Torquay Leisure Centre, gardens with bowling, crazy golf and so on. It is also within walking distance to the town centre, or you can catch a bus, this is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Either Barry, Heidi, Randall or Kate are on hand to give you any advice if you need it.

Enjoy, we did!

Room Tip: Premier or Front Facing rooms have sun all day.

This was the second visit to Abbey Lawn with a group of mainly older people. We organised this through Robinsons Travel. The organisation & help in planning by Robinsons was suberb...thanks Rachel!
Barry & Heidi (Managers) and the whole team work so hard to ensure evrtyone has a good holiday. Trips out were great, Allan the driver was as excellent as 2 years ago "Hello"
Food and service excellent with a good variety of food. Entertainment in the evenings good, something that is important to our group. Our group felt the holiday offered value for money, we would certainly return. Holiday made even more special by a group of mothers with their disabled sons/daughters..you were inspirational! thanks for making our stay even more enjoyable. Yes some rooms (not all) are a little dated & in need of refurbishment, but everything else outweighs this (unless you want to spend all your holiday couped up in a bedroom!!??)
Thanks to all!! Well done!

After returning from our holiday at the Abbey lawn, I must say it is one of our best holidays. Everything was perfect, the staff went out of there way to help us. Food was so good I'll be dieting for the next 6 months!! Tried to get going on the gym but after a few strokes on the rowing machine decided to give it up as a bad job. Did a bit of light swimming in the pool. Both indoor and outdoor pools were spotlessly clean. Have booked for the four of us for next year for 2 weeks. Must remember to pack some LARGER clothes!

Room Tip: Book early to get the best rooms, although all room are good we would have preferred one on a lower...
