We visited Torquay in october 2013. Elmington hotel situated on the hill near Torquay railroad station (2 minutes by walk). But trains were almost inaudible! Seaside and Torquay main beach are in 10 minutes by walk. Hotel has not real seaview - the thin water strip only! So if you like to listen to waves - you'd better look for the seaside hotel. On the other hand Elmington is very quiet place. Hotel has rooms with and without bathrooms. We had the first one. Full english breakfast was authentic (but a little heavy for "non-englishmen"). Manager (and owner) was very friendly and pleasant.

We needed a hotel convenient to Torquay Rail Station and the Elmington Hotel filled the bill in every respect. A cosy room, tasty breakfasts and a very warm welcome from the lovely Liza (yes, 'z') were just what we needed as we were in town for a funeral.

It would be nice to come back 'in season' so that we could enjoy the swimming pool and try her restaurant. I hope we will.

We arrived to the Elmignton hotel on the 11th of August to be greeted by a lovely oriental lady. She made us welcome instantly, we were showed to our rooms. They was very clean and tidy, the food was great, the staff(the ladies) were very helpful, the location of the hotel and surroundings were excellent. They made us feel at home. Our overall stay was excellent would definitely recommend to others and possibly will visit again. Great value for money.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. A hearty welcome, nice airy room, wonderful breakfast and the caring attention of the manageress. Special mentioning: wonderful quality bed.Quiet surroudnings! Liza was very caring for our wellbeing and the best ways to see all the treasures of Torquay, paington, Brixham, Kingswear and Dartmouth. Lovely.

Room Tip: 1st floor room looking out over the Bay are the most prestigious.

Two years after our last visit we are back again this time a whistle stop tour of the South coast
Torquay, Bournemouth and Brighton please read other reviews. After looking on a number of Websites we rang Lisa who managed to accommodate us with a Double and a Twin, the Elmington was supposedly full. The trip included a Stay at a Hilton. The Elmington was the best of all three stays.
My previous review was glowing; But Lisa has improved the accommodation. The Elmington Hotel (Guest Accommodation) seems to attract some very interesting patrons everyone we have met give the same glowing references
The breakfasts are great only rivalled on our trips by top end Hotels. This trip the Hilton had better Sausages but Lisa had better Bacon.

The location is just behind the railway station, ideal for visiting Paignton 4 adults return under £6.00. Its only two minutes walk from the seafront. Although the Elmington no longer does evening meals. it is ideally located for many good Resturants. I would recommend “Ocean Drive" and the Beefeater Restaurant on Belgrave Road.
If you want real VFM, a quite location and fantastic host this is for you. Lisa works extremely hard to create this atmosphere and she really does want you to have a great stay. How she finds time to do this whilst doing the house keeping her is impressive.

We will be back again and again and again.

Booked online last minute and was very pleased with our stay. Quiet location, about 15 mins walk from the marina. Lisa , the owner, was very friendly and welcoming and made us feel very at home. Great breakfast in the morning too. Added bonus was the outdoor swimming pool. A very relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thank you Lisa.
