“Brilliant place to stay in Torquay”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Very nice and clean house, very elegantly decorated and comfortable bedroom, great breakfast, but more importantly - very cheerful, polite, and helpful staff. Plus off-street parking. Not located at the beachfront, but only a short drive away from it. What more could you want?

Room Tip: Room on the ground floor can be a bit noisy. But still OK.

We hope you enjoyed your trip on into the depths of Cornwall and found a few more fossils for your collection, although Tin and Copper is more likely in those foreign parts. Thank you for leaving us a review. It is appreciated and important to us. Do come again, perhaps when we don't have the Tango dancers staying with us with their irregular schedule! V & P

Booked a two night stay at the Villa Marina about three hours before checking in due to a short notice business trip.... wasn't too sure what to expect but the reviews were good and looked nice from the photo's.

Arrived to be greeted by Peter and Viv, who couldn't have been more welcoming, enquiring about my journey and enthusiastic about my stay.

Upon checking in I was advised on the dining room for breakfast and offered discount vouchers for two local eateries which were a really nice touch, I was also offered a Cream Tea which I had to decline due to a health kick !!

I was shown to my room by Peter, called the "Singer" Room which is located on the ground floor next to the reception and to the rear of the property. The room was decorated to a very high standard with a superb refreshment offering along with a bowl of Roses Chocolates. They also provide a very informative Guest Information Pack which provides you with everything you need to know about the history of the house and ideas for trips out.

The bathroom was rather "bijou" but was spotless like the room, with a great offering of toiletries.
The shower in the morning was surprisingly powerful and lovely and hot, so I was able to go to the office suitably invigorated.

Unfortunately didn't try the breakfast offering as had to be in the office early but the menu looked fantastic.

All in all a fantastic little place, I am looking forward to bringing my other half and daughter to stay for a few days in the summer.

Room Tip: Singer room was class !!

After reading Trip Advisor reviews we changed our booking for a long weekend to Villa Marina. So happy that we did....we could not have stayed in a nicer place or with nicer hosts!! Viv & Pete provided a most warm welcome on arrival and continued to do so throughout our stay. Like others have said in their comments it was the nice touches that meant so much. Room was absolutely spotless and the breakfasts were amazing. You have to try one of Pete's Omelettes :-) Would highly recommend Villa Marina. We certainly will be returning in the near future. Once again thank you to Viv & Pete. From Bernadette & Keith

It was lovely to see you both again. It is always nice to see returning friendly faces. It gives us the confidence that we are doing something right! Sorry the famous Torquay weather was elsewhere but I think you managed to get out and about quite well despite the cold and wet. It has been dry since! Hope to see you again soon. V & P

The guest house was great and the owners could not be more helpful. There were lots of nice touches in the room, i.e. some chocolate and fruit. A cream tea on arrival was also very welcome. The breakfast was great and they really have put in a lot of effort to make things as pleasant as possible for their guests. Would stay there again. They have won awards and you can see why.

We are both so glad that you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed all our little extras that we provide in the rooms for your comfort. You may have noticed that there are none of the purple Quality Street?...that's because a certain person who will remain nameless has no will power! We hope you had an uneventful trip home and look forward to seeing you again one day soon.

Just returned from a 3 night short break at Villa Marina - Home from Home - great welcome from Peter and Viv - including offer of pot of Tea and cream tea, if required. Peter made fresh tea and brought it to our room - thank you Peter refreshing and warming. Fresh milk daily also fruit, sweets and flowers in the room. Showed the care and attention to detail Peter and Viv put into making their guests feel special. Room was of the highest standard, as were the breakfasts - with many, many choices. Peter and viv could not do enough for us during our stay. They were informativwe on local ammenities and visits to the surrounding areas. We would recommend the Villa Marina to all. We shall certainly be returning in the near future to continue visiting the sights in South Devon that we missed. Thank you both again - Bobbie and Jay.

It feels as though you have only just finished waving goodbye. You managed to make the most of your stay and dodged most of the inclement weather. A shame about your camera - did any of the photos survive the dunking? You will have to come and take some more. We did enjoy your company and are pleased to think that you enjoyed being here so much. V & P

Been meaning to write this since September!
What can we say ... had an excellent stay here, everything was just excellent from the cream tea on arrival, to the excellent breakfast and clean / comfortable room. Little things are thought of like fresh milk for your tea. Both Viv and Peter were warm, welcoming and very helpful. Will definitely stay here again and would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Perfect!

Better late than never and this is a little tardy too! However we are both pleased that you had an enjoyable time. Did you have a good Christmas? That is the time for re living holiday memories. Hopefully they were good ones. Thank you for saying that you would recommend us. Perhaps we will see you again one day.
