“Good location hotel”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

Stayed for one night to visit daughter at University on a cheap rate which included breakfast. Hotel had a nice bar and lounge area and helpful staff, room not luxurious but spacious and clean with everything you need. We asked for a quiet room and got one on a high floor at the rear which was perfect. Location was excellent, you could walk everywhere. We were able to park at my daughters but parking could be an issue for others. Breakfast a bit disappointing, not the choice of food we have had in other hotels but quality good and service excellent. Probably not worth paying much extra for. Overall a good value stay, and would use again.

Decent hotel. Was pleasantly surprised with the building, the reception, bar area, lifts and room.

The room was big for the rate, well appointed, well laid out and furnishings in excellent condition. You should not be disappointed.

Parking (underneath Staples) about 50m past the hotel driving into town on the left costs £6 a night. You should pay at reception when you check in.

There are many restaurants and shops within a couple of hundred metres. Go for a walk behind the hotel, around the marina area. There is a variety of restaurants to cater for different budgets / tastes.

Stayed for 2 nights on weekend in Plymouth. Having previously stayed at hotel further from city centre, we decided to book this hotel- location and price were right. Felt a little comprehensive about the stay after reading some of the bad reviews but no need to fear.
Room was a good size, clean. We booked double bed and got a double and single bed(?). The double was very small and little hard. We didn't sleep well. Our room was facing the street and was ever so noisy! If I stay again I will request room facing the sea. Bathroom was a good size and clean on the first glance but looking closer, there were lots of short black hair all over one side of bath and floor. The bed sheet had two blood stains.
Other than that, all ok.
Didn't eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food.
We had a fire alarm going off and had to evacuate the building and I felt the hotel staff would benefit more from further training on how to deal with lots of people trying to move out of building.
We feared the parking and it was ok. The hotel covers the 1st 24 hours at discounted rate and then it's up to you to pay @£1/ hour rate which isn't bad I guess.
However had I have to pay more for the room I would not be happy about paying extra for parking!
Great walking distance to barbican, shopping centre.
Might stay again if we find a good deal per room.

Was about £60 for the night. A decent sized clean room and a nice bathroom with a shower. (No bath for the girlfriend)
Bar and reception was nice and staff were friendly. Would recommend if you want nothing special.

Chose this hotel for a visit to the city. The room was clean and tidy and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Had read bad reviews about the hotel but am pleased to say I would have no hesitation to stay again.

Stayed only overnight on a biz trip. But after 24 hours of airports and flights, then hassles of trains that were experiencing disruptions and a 4 hour bus trip from Bristol, the Jurys Inn was warm, welcoming, and just what I needed. Rachel at the front desk could not have been more efficient. The room had all that was needed from the tea & coffee to the huge soaking tub & shower. Comfy bed, good reading lights & whatever TV one might be interested in. Laura, on the way out the next day, equally efficient. Clean, clean, and clean.

Location of the Inn is excellent. As stated in other reviews, lower end of town, shopping, site seeing, & 5 minutes walk of the Barbican, the walkway and district on the water. Pubs, restaurants, shops etc. Wonderful even at 10:30PM. A wonderful place to just take in the air and relax. I had been told that it was a safe and well lit area, it was. Apparently this is a destination for families and friends on weekends.

A stop at the Dolphin where my cab driver said there are "real people" on the Barbican. No food, but a pub from long ago which was obviously a local meeting place. Fish and chips NEXT door, not at the Dolphin. I missed that since it was too late. But was told there was no better in town. Will have to be next time.

Definitively will request another stay at the Jurys should they be located within my travel areas.
Serving meals apparently stops before 10PM. Some pizza and kabob shops open late.

Also, cab fares were consistent with good business. No gauging.
NOTE:Speaking of money, there are ATM's outside the hotel to the left and right that do not charge fees for cash transactions. This is common throughout UK, but inside establishments, etc, there usually is a transaction fee as well as from your own bank in US. Use the ATMs outside!

Jurys Inn was far superior to that experienced in London recently, at a world re-known brand name @ triple the price. See you again, Jurys! Terrific tourist and family hotel.

Room Tip: I always ask for a room away from elevator and ice/vending machines.

We stayed here this weekend, the hotel is just at the bottom of town so its easy to walk into town which has plenty of shops and places to eat. Also oposite is a massive Next and Primark. I read alot about Parking but we never had an issue, it was £10 for 24 hours. The car park has limited spaces but each time we returned and it was full we just sat in car for 10 minutes and waited for someone else to leave and then had their space so simple. The rooms are nice and modern but we did have a problem with load music noise from the room next door on the first night, the manager called to say did we want to move but they had been told to keep the noise down so said I would stay as long as it was quiet after 10pm. At 10pm the noise was still going so I phoned down to reception and they offered to move us as they already had to move others beside them and above and below them so I said why should I move, surely the main point is to move the idiots making the noise not punish everyone else? Anyway they gave them one last warning and that seemed to have done the trick. The hotel handled it great but if the manager reads this, perhaps next time think of your innocent paying customers and actually move the ignorant customers who make the noise, not that hard really is it??. Anyway id recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
