After having finally found a table for 6, we ordered our food, 60 minutes later a plate of starters arrived, 30 minutes after that we asked where are main food was, we were told it will only be a few minutes more. 30 minutes past, and still no food. Asked again the bar man said 'I have no explanation, it should take another 10 minutes', 20 minutes later our food finally arrived, I asked for a well done steak, and I had a medium steak and so I had to send it back.

When I complained about the service, the rather rude manager said 'you had a free round of drinks, what more do you want?'.

I wouldn't have minded if everyone was in the same boat, however we were with another set of friends who ordered food & dessert 45 minutes after us, and were served before we had our food and were on their was back to the hotel before we had ours. It was a mistake on their part and I think they knew this.

My husband works in Plymouth, he is in the Navy, and is quickly spreading the word about the awful service we recieved.

We stayed at the Jack Rabbit over a long weekend, not long after it opened (2005/2006), on a third night free deal. We were visiting family in Plymouth.
The room was a generous size in comparison to other Travelodge type hotels. As it had just been opened it was very well decorated.
The car park is quite small, and shared with the pub, so if you arrive back late in the evening it can be difficult finding a space.
Security to the hotel was very good, entry only by magnetic key card access which only lets you onto the floor you are staying on.
The room had a separate bathroom, bedroom with desk and chair, small sofa and a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was included, and was served in the Jack Rabbit pub. Breakfast is a continental style, serving cereal, croissants and pastries, fruit and yoghurts.
The Jack Rabbit serves good pub meals, and we have eaten here even when not staying at the hotel. My favourite was always the chilli mussels.
The hotel is situated just beside the Derriford Hospital roundabout, and you can sometimes hear ambulances due to this.
The hotel is quite far out of the city centre, between the airport and Dartmoor. There is a park and ride service that runs from George Junction to the city centre which is less than five minutes drive up the road from the Jack Rabbit, and has ample parking if you don’t want to drive into town.
There is a large Tesco at Roborough for any supplies needed.
The George Toby Carvery beside the George Junction Park & Ride is always good for Sunday lunch.

Have just returned from a 3 night break (Sunday night free.) Our small, twin bed room was attractively decorated, well-stocked with tea/coffee etc. and there were numerous tv chanels if you wanted them. The shower was superb and bathroom had plenty of shelf space and towels. The breakfast in the pub next door was plentiful, even fresh strawberries, numerous fruits, huge range of cereals, juices etc. The evening meals were a bit 'chips with everything' but a good choice. The staff were very efficient and friendly.

Just a couple of downsides. The accommodation block is situated right next to a busy road and our room was noisy with an open window. The check-in is placed in the pub and could prove difficult for those with walking difficulties because the path is uneven. It is also a nuisance if you are a single parent and you can't leave the kids in the car when you check-in. Unfortunately for all guests (and there were many families), it rained for 4 days and we all got wet checking in and going to meals.

Despite the awful weather, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend. There's plenty to do in the area to suit all age groups.

  • Liked — attractive, clean room
  • Disliked — too close to a main road

Stayed here for 3 nights from 6th July 2007 as part of a family nostalgia trip to Devon and Cornwall. Its a short drive to the Plymouth City Centre and reasonable taxi ride if you were to be drinking. The venue is ideal for driving over to Cornwall but would be a problem if you did it too many times. It was great for us. The staff go to a lot of trouble to keep the place so clean and smart and it was a great pleasure to return to the room at the end of a long day. Staff were friendly and helpful at check in and breakfast. Its also handy to have the pub serving good meals nearby. Have stayed in rooms in Europe, USA, Africa, Far East and Australia and the Jack Rabbit is the tops for price.

We stayed for two nights (Friday and Saturday) last weekend 19th/20th January.

First impressions were that it was brilliant. We arrived at 8.50 and fortunately meals were served until 10pm, so we didn't have to go searching the area for a meal. Our meal was excellent, medium steaks cooked to perfection. This is a no smoking establishment which suited us well.

The rooms are spotless and of a good size. Unfortunately there was a problem with the boiler and we had no hot water for the whole of our stay which was very upsetting. I know it was one of those things outside anybodies control but it did spoil our holiday.

Breakfast was what you expect, continental and included in the price - more than adequate for us.

We would stay here again providing the boiler was repaired and I am sure it will be.
