Review of Merchant's House - CLOSED

You are not visiting the Merchants House but rooms filled with dusty stuff on a theme...
There are singer sewing machines which are so dusty and neglected that I felt like donating my own loved, cherished possession.
The section on the Blitz was quite interesting but so in need of a revamp.
Go to any NT property and see how its done!

Stratford has Shakespeare houses but Plymouth has real gem in the Merchants house. A back street leads you to the area of Plymouth that has not changed much in hundreds of years. Cobble streets lead to the house and the Barbican is very close so a real chance to step back to Sir Francis Drake's time.

Tucked away out of the way but well worth a visit to walk round the house and see how an Elizabrthan merchant and his family lived. Great for kids when they're at that age where they like to compare things and learn a little history

This small museum is just perfect. It really seems, once inside, that one might have lived here in Elizabethan times. It is set in a street of buildings of similar age, some of which are not too much changed over the centuries, although others, of course, have been badly modernized. Worth a visit, and then a visit to the nearby Tudor Rose Tea Room.

This is a very old, small, merchants house. It doesn't take very long to walk around but is interesting to visit when you are in the Barbican area of Plymouth.
