“Another great Premier Inn”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

As a family of four we have stayed here several times over the last couple of years and last stayed the weekend before Christmas 2013, stopping off on our way to Newquay. Both this PI and the adjacent Lockyers Quay (literally the building next door) are great - usual PI standard; clean, modern and well-maintained. Staff friendly and helpful, service in both hotel and restaurant prompt and efficient. All-you-can-eat breakfast amazing quality and value at £17 per day for the four of us, it's a no-brainer. Within a 10 minute walk of Plymouth city centre, the walk via the Barbican or Hoe is lovely. The car park at SH is limited (although we've never had a problem) but there is plenty of space in the LQ one next door anyway so you won't struggle for a space. We always stay here to break our journeys from Lincolnshire to Cornwall and meet up with family for a meal at Positano (Mayflower Street) which I would also recommend. We always ring ahead and request a marina-view room and have not been disappointed yet. The only really tiny issue we ever had was when we had a room above reception and it did get a little noisy at night with people coming and going, but it was half-term and so the PI was particularly busy, but it did not spoil our stay.

Room Tip: Ring ahead and request a marina-view room.

Brief overnight stay in Plymouth. Good value for money - excellent evening meal and good wholesome breakfast.

Only criticism was room too warm - even with window open. But I do like my fresh air!!

**** Dr Trip Advisor - why do I need to write 200 characters to say I enjoyed my stay**** So this comment was adding just for padding and has nothing to do with my stay!!

Fast efficient checkin, staff very helpful and friendly, lovely room. Large very comfortable bed, user friendly shower and nice harbour view. Quiet, probably helped by the ssshhh signs! Lifts fast and efficient, evening meal good quality and value, with good service. Very good breakfast. Plenty of space in the room and bathroom. My only problem was with the wifi. I paid for extended use, reasonable price, but the system was very capricious and it was very frustrating. The staff were apologetic, saying that all premier inns were having problems with their internet suppliers. I hope they change companies.
Overall a very happy experience. We have been here before and found it equally good.

Room Tip: Book early for a good deal

We decided to go away for new year as a family! What a great choice! We had a great New Year's Eve walking on the hoe and headed back to the hotel early where we had a drink and went back to our room.
Unfortunately there were people in the hotel that did not respect that other people were staying! But the night porter was excellent! Firm but fair!!!! Well done! The good news is my girls slept through it all!
We then stayed on New Year's Day! Terrible weather but we were lucky to stay in such a prime place! My husband went off with my daughter to watch plymouth argyle whilst myself and our other daughter went shopping!! Excellent location for both activities.
The evening was that wet and windy that we decided to eat in the hotel at the thyme restaurant. Excellent. Great service lovely food.
My only little niggle was that we have never stayed 2 nights in a premier inn before and I was disappointed that the cleaners did not empty the bin or give us clean cups for our cup of tea!
We had breakfast both days. We were pleased that it was freshly cooked to order and it was very good. Thank you.

The names that need a big thank you are Ola and Katie as they were great in the restaurant.

We then stayed all day on our last day and left our car in the car park. Thank you.
Another super premier inn thank you.

Great place to stay, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a short walk from Plymouth City Centre and all the main attractions. The Barbican is just around the corner. Drakes Circus shopping centre is great for bargain hunters all the usual shop within walking distance of the hotel.
