As a family of four we have stayed here several times over the last couple of years and last stayed the weekend before Christmas 2013, stopping off on our way to Newquay. Both this PI and the adjacent Lockyers Quay (literally the building next door) are great - usual PI standard; clean, modern and well-maintained. Staff friendly and helpful, service in both hotel and restaurant prompt and efficient. All-you-can-eat breakfast amazing quality and value at £17 per day for the four of us, it's a no-brainer. Within a 10 minute walk of Plymouth city centre, the walk via the Barbican or Hoe is lovely. The car park at SH is limited (although we've never had a problem) but there is plenty of space in the LQ one next door anyway so you won't struggle for a space. We always stay here to break our journeys from Lincolnshire to Cornwall and meet up with family for a meal at Positano (Mayflower Street) which I would also recommend. We always ring ahead and request a marina-view room and have not been disappointed yet. The only really tiny issue we ever had was when we had a room above reception and it did get a little noisy at night with people coming and going, but it was half-term and so the PI was particularly busy, but it did not spoil our stay.
