You generally know what to expect when you book a Premier Inn, however I would class this at the top end of the chain. Stayed in two different rooms and both were large, bright and really comfortable. Location is quite close to the Barbican area and not far from town centre. Had a really good breakfast and whilst we didn’t eat in the hotel in the evening, the restaurant did seem really busy.

Room Tip: There is a bridge behind the nearby Aquarium that is a short cut to the Barbican but check what time...

Situated in a very good position for visiting Plymouth. Near the harbour and Barbican area, great view if you get a room overlooking the harbour. 20 minute walk into the centre, similar to get up onto the Hoe. We had a room on the 3rd (top) floor.
Welcoming staff on arrival, quick and easy checkin. Room clean and tidy, good sized room.

For a Premier Inn I was pleasantly surprised.
Lovely big room, big bed (although it did seem like two singles pushed together), but still very comfy. Nice big bathroom with a great shower.
Excellent location near the dock and right round the corner from The Barbican area.
The only problem was that I was woken very early on Saturday morning (I'm talking pre 7am) by someone in the room above walking about and then again on Saturday night/Sunday morning walking around the room. The floors didn't seem creaky so I guess this person must've been particularly heavy footed. I would request a higher floor if you are woken easily and want a good nights sleep. Other than this the hotel was great and the staff were particularly helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher floor to get a good view and most importantly no one stomping around above...

Great hotel in an excellent location.
Our room had a beautiful view over the harbour, it was a short walk to the barbican across the swing bridge.
The food in the resteraunt was very good with plenty of choice and resonably priced and would recommend it.
ALL the staff went out of their way to deliver a 5* service with a smile and made our stay a memorable one

Stayed here while visiting our son at uni. Really lovely, fantastic view and very near to walk to amenities. As usual friendly helpful staff and spotless room. Right next to aquarium and 5 minutes to the Barbican.

Room Tip: Second floor overlooking harbour

My wife and I had a problem following the driving instructions to reach the hotel. At the end of the instructions to “Follow signs to the National Marine Aquarium” (which are small and easily missed fish symbols) the instructions say that the hotel’s sister is visible from a crossroads. In fact, the ‘Premier Inn’ sign on the building is hidden by trees and there is no other clue that guests have arrived. We were travelling in heavy rain at night and were easily lost. Our stay was generally excellent. There is no air conditioning which may be a problem to some visitors in the summer but two fans are supplied and the window can be opened a small amount. The rooms are spacious, adequately furnished, the bed was huge and firm. Hanging space and storage was adequate. Two pillows of different firmness are supplied - an excellent innovation never seen before by me. The staff were cheerful and attentive. The cooked breakfasts were excellent except for the scrambled eggs - go for the poached eggs as they are perfectly cooked. Odd numbered rooms (facing west) look out over Lockyers Quay which bustles with fishing boats and yachts. Across the quay was the imposing Aquarium and Plymouth’s Barbican. Even numbered rooms (facing east) look out over an industrial estate - worth noting! There is a shortcut to The Barbican via a swing bridge (ask for directions at reception) which takes ten minutes to the heart of the Barbican night life. This closes at 21.30 and the return is very much longer so a taxi return may be necessary. There is a fairly small hotel car-park which was almost full but I understand that there is an overflow car-parking nearby. I have three cautions - not bad enough to be complaints. The toilet paper sheets are only 77% the size of standard toilet paper and very flimsy. This was embarrassing and not acceptable. Only two tea bags, two coffee sachets and four UHT milk cartons are supplied for two people which is incredibly mean. I know that it is possible to get more supplies at the reception but why put guests to so much trouble when toilet paper and drinking supplies are so very cheap? It spoils the overall impression of the hotel. The third shortcoming is the lack of a slip mat in the bath. Although the bath has a non-slip area this is too small and I slipped badly getting into the shower. Finally I would say that the cost, facilities, free car-park (I have been charged £10 per night to use some hotels' own car-parks) and breakfast well exceed several other hotels in which my wife have stayed charging well over double this hotel’s charges. It’s Premier Inn for us every time now!

Room Tip: West facing odd numbers have by far the best view.
