It seems to be partly a coffee wholesaleing business and not have a shop. Not sure why it's on Tripadvisor. Can't speak for the quality but Plymouth lacks a decent coffee seller. Ignore my ratings. I obviously haven't been there.

Not sure what's going on but when we called in here for an after work drink this evening the ordinary sinkage of Carpe Diem was still up but at knee height on either side of the entrance were two Ministry of Coffee signs which suggested to us that this cocktail/evening bar may be about to morph. There are several more big beer taps along the bar suggesting that a more earthy robust nighttime presentation is already underway.

This sounded like an interesting new coffee option. We looked briefly at the website on the listing. There was a photo mock up of a coffee shop front with this name. There were a dozen brand names with logos, the only two of which seem to be currently trading are the very recently re-opened Cafe Sol on Mutley Plain billed as a Mexican coffee bar and the Americano, fairly well established at the top of Cornwall St not far from the back entrance to the shopping precinct. There is no sign of a Ministry of Coffee cafe or bar in the city yet although a hint that there may sometime be one in Royal Parade. Americano and Sol, together with Goodbodys, all with active Tripadvisor listings are all owned by Mr Bartlett who also has a couple of student pubs near the university. Impossible to give anything other than the lowest rating to Ministry of Coffee which does seem to be trading. I have put June as the time of visit because that is when I tried to do so.
