“great place to visit”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

There is nowhere better in Plymouth to wander around, look at the shops , stop for a drink or food than The Barbican. There is so much to see and do that you can spend hours there. Some of the best fish and chips shops in plymouth as well as upmarket restaurants. lots of outdoor seating , great atmosphere on a sunny day, then take a stroll up to the Hoe

“A nice place to be”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

very smelly of fish but a good place to be! very clean and a great view of the Plymouth sound and dockyard and warship's out on the sound! Wasn't happy with the boat trips they said to wait 15 minutes but had to wait one hour due to already paying for the trip!

“Quiet this time of year”
Reviewed March 5, 2013 via mobile

Lovely little area of Plymouth, with lots of old buildings and antique shops. The landing point where the pilgrims left for America is worth seeing

“Historic Plymouth - not to be missed”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is the historic Barbican area and should not be missed on a visit to Plymouth. There is also the marina and the aquarium. It is an easy 10 - 15 minute walk from the city centre or combine with a walk along the Hoe. There are plenty of cafes and small shops to explore and make sure you go off the main road and venture down the old side streets to get a real feel for the area. Can recommend Edward's fudge kitchen, 47 Southside St - gorgeous!
There is a memorial to the Mayflower which set sail from here in 1620.
Check out possible parking areas before you arrive and make sure you have change for the meter or pay via mobile phone, most spaces seemed to be roadside rather than designated car park. We walked from our hotel in Elliot Street which took about 10 minutes.
