“Excellent but beware occasional soggy bottoms.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

When we are in Plymouth late and hungry we often use the City Charcoal Grill. It is friendly, efficient and tasty. As said below, the high turnover means that the food, especially the lamb on the spit, are always fresh and in best condition. My only gripe is that when they are very busy they sometimes don't bother to lightly toast or grill the pitta breads so that if your meat or salads are remotely wet or juicy then the bead turns to soggy mush. Only a small gripe but when so much else is right this is a gentle hint to tweak the service.

“Better on foot, nowhere to park on this busy junction.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

Often walk though this end of Mutley. Like the mixed kebab. Quick efficient service. Late night you can eat in at a couple of tables or if you need air then the steps of the Baptist church over an open space from which to watch the world go by while you eat. Always plenty to see on the taxi rank opposite and the half dozen lively late night bars.

“Popular, high turn over and good kebabs.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012

Your first worry with any kebab shop is whether they sell enough and know what they are doing. Mutley is busy every evening and they sell a lot. The staff are friendly and the food within its scope is good and fresh. Like others we now come in pursuit of the mixed shish?

“The only place in Plymouth for a Kebab”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2012

I lived in Plymouth many years ago ( and we loved City Grill ) and how fantastic to have a home delivery when we visited this month. Fantastic mixed Shish ( beautiful top quality lamb ) and doner and fast delivery. Top quality and lovely staff. Please go there for " The best Kebab " in Plymouth. They do have a couple of tables to eat in, but we enjoyed ours at a friends home. I must also say the Cacik is fantastic and enough for 4 people.. What more can I say !!!

“Decent kebab”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2011

Had a kebab here one evening and found it to be a decent eat. The meat was hot and not at all oily and the salad was fresh. The pitta bread was lightly toasted and the chilli sauce wasn't too hot. The service was friendly too. The place does a good trade so you know the food will be fresh too which is a bonus. Would happily return again. A small donner kebab was £3.80 but it was an ample size.
