Plymouth rarely has it if you need something unusual but in this case having had a huge crop of apples from four trees we were determined to make our own cider and were resigned to travelling to Hereford or even London to buy Pukka kit. We wanted something to chop and mash the fruit, a reasonably classic cider press and then suitable containers for the natural fermentation. A neighbour with a home beer factory under the stairs recommended the Hop Shop although we expected something a little less organised and stocked. It had it all and having swiped the plastic we took it all home and starred the same day. By all means check out the web site but I suggest you go and look.the staff are friendly and helpful and will show and demonstrate everything. They seem to have enough business not to have to hard sell. I got the impression that they base their reputation on getting what you need or telling you where to get an alternative. Too early to say how our apples came through the process but we have bottled and already drunk a good deal of perfect Holden crystal clear juice.
