very windy so don't put an umbrella up! Would be lovely in season to walk to the Barbican across the costal path, we did it in the rain and lost our umbrella but still a lovely view and gives an appetite for some good food at the end of the walk.

This is about the best part of Plymouth we found. I was expecting naval museums, ships we could visit and a Spanish Armada display but we couldn't find any of that. I'm not sure if it doesn't exist or if there was just a sad lack of research on my part.
The Hoe was a lovely area to walk around - it doesn't take too long, there are lovely views the whole way and plenty of (outdoor) coffee shops to stop in too.

Great views, we love to sit on a bench at the top and watch the sea and the boats. Very relaxing and therapeutic.

I love PLYMOUTH HOE. It is world class and the views compare with almost anywhere. What’s frustrating is that the foreshore area is being allowed to go to rack and ruin. The concrete is crumbling, many buildings are unused, there is graffiti all over the place and much of the ironwork is rusting away. I don’t know who owns the foreshore but they should be utterly ashamed for letting this gem of a place rot. The area has so much going for it and this should be one of the main selling points for PLYMOUTH as a tourist destination. I hope that with Gary RHODES at the Dome opening soon and the other restaurants and bars on the HOE the owners of the foreshore will invest money and effort. The economy of PLYMOUTH needs visitors from outside the city to spend their money here. The HOE and foreshore are a fantastic resource – why the hell aren’t we making the most of it?
