We stayed at Langdon Court for one night and, for the room rate we paid, it represented very good value.

The setting is perfect but there are signs of wear and tear in some areas. There was peeling paint on our bathroom door and the carpet on the main staircase was a little grubby.

The evening meal we had was certainly good but the experience was somewhat odd. We were the only couple in the restaurant and we were told we could choose where to sit. However, when we seated ourselves in the window, the server pointed out it was set for four people and asked us to move.

We did move but halfway through dinner the staff took two settings away from our original table to make it a table for two! It seemed bizarre to do this after telling us not to sit there! Only two more small groups came to eat, so there was plenty of room and no need for us to move. Maybe a little more attention to customer satisfaction is required.

We spent an anniversary weekend here and there were lots of lovely things that we enjoyed. Unfortunately, there were a few disappointments which might be worth mentioning to other people. What could have been a lovely weekend was spoilt a bit.

Good things:

- stunning building, setting and gardens
- great decor
- walking distance to lovely beach
- delicious food
- great breakfast
- Beautiful room
- good price with winter deal
- staff efficient, friendly and nice
- it would be lovely in summer or for a wedding
- dogs allowed

Bad things re: room 23, Premier room:

- Luke warm shower (bath hot and lovely)
- terrible sound proofing between rooms 23 and 25 - could virtually hear conversation, coughing etc, even heard people going to toilet. Really unacceptable.
- lumpy mattress on one side only
- temperature of hotel was well below par. Albeit was a very cold spell in November, the hotel hallway, bar and at dining room were well on the chilly side. Staff did kindly bring me an extra electric heater on the second day. I wished I had mentioned it earlier. but the chill meant the hotel had no sense of cosiness.
- no cosy lounge area to relax in.
- my complaints have been ignored with no apology

Room tip: dont choose room 23 and its adjoining room - maybe 25 (you need to check)

What a beautiful wedding venue. Tucked away deep in the Devon countryside, Langdon offered the perfect country manor vibes with gardens, walks and the beach not too far away.

I will be back very soon.

An excellent hotel and restaurant with a professional and friendly staff. The setting for this historic building is ideal too. A great deal of thought has gone into the furnishings and décor to really bring out the qualities of Langdon Court Hotel. We had a very relaxing stay in a spacious room with a large comfortable bed. The bathroom had both a bath and separate shower (something of a rarity in accommodation today). If we return to this area of Devon my wife and I will certainly stay here again.
