Have stayed here many times over past 20 years. Staff have always been excellent. This time the room was poor. No a/c. Fan that appeared to be about to fall from ceiling and had not been cleaned since?? Not impressed with cleanliness of room although bed clean and comfortable. Not sure that we would return.

When people say this is in need of a refurb they are 100% correct, the rooms look like something on the 1920s,the outside of the hotel looks like a prison and avoid the bar across the road.

Rooms - The bed was comfy however, there was hair in the bathroom, the TV was bulky and difficult to view and there was no air con only a ceiling fan which did little, you can open the windows but there’s two sets which don’t open very wide so spent the whole night boiling.

Price - for 3 nights it came to well over 250 quid this only included continental breakfast where you could have used the croissants to hold the doors open, and the full English breakfast was ridiculous at £12 when you can go outside for less

Parking - there is a car park where you’ll pay for the pleasure to use it and will be lucky to find a car space. (Some nights cars even blocked other cars in)

All in all it was in my opinion that the hotel offered little value for money in terms of what you got from it and is in dire need of refurbishment, when will Millennium Hotels who own the Copthorne group wake and listen to all the comments on here.

1 Plus point – the staff were excellent and provided a good service, hopefully somebody will give them a decent hotel to work from.

The appearance from the outside is uninviting as it is a 1960s block. Inside however, the rooms are large and very comfortable. The receptionists are helpful and friendly and we were allocated a beautifully quiet room as requested

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking Armada Way are the quietest.

My wife and I stayed at the Copthorne Hotel for five nights in August 2013. We found the hotel beyond our expectations after reading some very unfair reviews on tripadvisor.

The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We really couldn't fault the hotel as the prices are reasonable and the location is excellent being almost in the centre of Plymouth's main shopping area. There was a supermarket next door to the hotel which meant we could get virtually all we needed from there.

My only gripe was the cost of WiFi but then again, many hotels in the UK charge for this unlike the rest of Europe.

If you are looking for a quiet hotel with excellent facilities and value for money then we would happily recommend the Copthorne Hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the supermarket car park and Plymouth Hoe. Not the best view in the world...

we really enjoy staying at the copthorne but it is in need of a good refurb. mainly the hotel bar would really benefit from a good paint job and some new furniture.

the rooms are ok, the fixtures and fittlings are dated but everything we had worked well and was very clean.

this could be an amazing hotel if it was given a much needed refurb?!

We spent one night in the Millennium Copthorne Hotel in Plymouth for a weekend trip. The place is a bit tricky to find by car, but following the hotel website's postcode for the satnav worked ok. The website states that parking costs £6 a day, but we were not charged. The underground car park has no lift to the ground floor, so be prepared to carry your suitcases up a set of stairs. The room was clean and comfortable. But it is a long time since I have been in a hotel room with a fan in the ceiling (no air condition) and the small vintage tube TV could not cope with the widescreen picture. The location of the Copthorne is in the more boring part of Plymouth, but only a 10-15 min walk down to the historic harbour area. A drawback is the lack of free wifi. Breakfast was basic, but quite ok.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on the Copthorne Hotel Plymouth.

Should you come to stay with us again, please be aware we do have a service lift which accesses the car park and a 24hr reception team who will be happy to come help with luggage etc. from there. There is an intercom service inside of the car park to reach us.

Our TVs are being replaced imminently to flat screens which should eliminate any picture issues. There are also desks fans supplied in each wardrobe and more available if needed on request.

Hopefully you will not allow these issues from preventing you from staying again and we hope to welcome you back to Plymouth soon.

Kind regards,
Carly Hobbs,
Reception Shift Leader.
