just come home from a stay last night as we were attending the Moody Blues concert at the pavillions (they were excellent as usual). what a lovely grand Old style hotel - the room we had on the 5th floor was big and spotlessly clean, the only minus was that it was a bit hot even with the window open all night. we had a meal in the bar, which was very nice, before we went over the road and the fresh cooked (not buffet ) breakfast this morning was spot on, good service and breakfast staff very welcoming. would most certainly stay again.

We stayed at the duke of Cornwall for a long weekend and it was a little gem. We had room 515 which had to be the best room we have ever stayed in, if a little quirky as its in part of the tower Staff were helpful and informative. Breakfast was what a breakdown should be. A great stay in a great old hotel.

This Hotel has a great look inside and out, is situated within easy walk of the Bartbican with shops cafes and restaurants. The rooms were clean and tidy and in taste with the building which was built in 1863. The dining room is exceptional with large columns and a magnificent chandelier (keep del Boy and Grandad clear) The breakfast is freshly cooked and ranges from Continental to Full English, Kippers and so on. All safe were pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend if visiting Plymouth

We visited here very recently and overall had a comfortable stay.
The room was spacious and comfortable in a quiet area.
Breakfast was fine (would be great to have decent yoghurt though ) and the staff friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately I was not impressed by the the reception staff . It appeared they all had the same kind of attitude - unfriendly and not appearing to be helpful. One didn't even bother getting up from her chair to speak to me!
On leaving no one thanked us for staying or asked if we enjoyed our stay etc.etc.
A little bit of friendliness would go a long way -I hope that the management address this soon!

Needed a hotel for one night whilst collecting son from Uni. The Duke gave me all I needed at a reasonable cost. Free parking is a bonus and the Lounge is a lovely place to sit and have a quiet drink. Staff helpful, rooms a good size, the bed was very big and comfortable and the shower top notch.
Did not eat here but the dining room looked the business.
Impressed, so have booked again for sons' graduation in September.

Room Tip: Front of hotel and top floor are the best for outlook and quietness
