Just been back to Plymouth after a two month gap and got the usual wonderfully warm welcome at Jolly Jacks. It's a regular watering hole for us when in Plymouth and lunches and breakfasts are both good value and high quality. We also had dinner there. Very yummy scotch egg shared as a starter and truly amazing Devon ruby red steak with cafe de Paris butter, wonderful big chips that were crumbly and crunchy outside and light and fluffy on the inside, delicious onion rings and flat mushrooms and tomatoes that were slow roasted and packed full of flavour. My only complaint is that I was too full for pudding but managed to find room for an luscious Avriletto cocktail & my other half - the birthday boy had a cheese board that was out of this world - no sign of dull old crackers on this plate - lovely selection of cheeses, damson jelly and premium biscuits - if anyone does a better cheese board I'd be very suprised. On and it had a birthday candle as well. Service is always great here but what I really love is that whether you're just having a coffee or pushing the boat out for a big occasion you always get the same great welcome & service from the utterly charming people at JJ's,
