Stayed in the family ensuit for one night and must admitt it was better than what I expected.
The toilet/bathroom was really small but quite clean with no toiletteries provided.
pub next door is owned by the same landlord as the b&b which was quite good. The pub is very traditional with very tasty food.
The best thing about the b&b is its location as it is situated in the heart of plymouth with easy access to the city centre and other local attractions.
I would recommend to anyone after a goid value for money b&b.
only pitfall is the place need updating

You can't beat the George for value for money,The location is excellent, 5 mins from the Hoe, City center and the Barbican. The owner was very friendly, The young ladies that served our breakfast were very polite and nothing was too much trouble, The breakfast was good full English. £25 a night was really good value, we stayed for 2 nights, We stayed in room 4, the shower was excellent. We are already planning our next trip.

Clean but very very basic. No toiletries. Noise from neighbours was just awful, disturbance in the afternoon from 4pm with them playing around in the stairs, banging on doors, speaking so loud. This started again at 5am in the morning with additional noise from toilets and shower water down the drains, banging doors, going down and up the stairs. We finally got up at 6.30am and left after a cold shower as all the water had been used up, not even bothering with breakfast.

Room Tip: No good rooms here!

We paid £40 a night for B and B, via late rooms.com, only to be told by the owner he would have given us a ten pound discount had we booked directly with them, via telephone. The room was tired, very basic and the mattress had seen better days, but we were on a budget and the heating was good, there was a free wifi, large tv screen and it appeared clean. We were woken daily by fellow guests using the shared bathroom next to our room. Facilities were minimal, no toiletries, hair drier and the ensuite was the size of a small cupboard, with a sliding door that offered little privacy: good job we'd been married a while! Breakfast was in the adjacent pub and a simple but adequate fayre of cereal plus a cooked option. No frills, but a free newspaper was available and very friendly service. The crowning glory of this place is its location. Can't be beaten: right on the edge of the Hoe, a short walk from the Barbican, theatre, cinema and town centre. Cheap day long parking permits were also offered, so all things considered, we'd consider coming here again if we were ever to repeat the trip.

Room Tip: Opt for an ensuite as its a trek to the downstairs bathroom otherwise. Be prepared for basic but ade...

We stayed here on a business trip. The owner was quite friendly, same as the staff. We had a standard room right on the top floor, the rooms are not very big, but that is the case in those old buildings along the hoe around the citadel. The adjacent pub belongs to the same owner and breakfast is served there. We found that quite nice actually as it´s a typical old English pub. And our past experience was that most of those pubs serve nice breakfast - which this one did as well - a tasty, fresh breakfast with a good coffee - not instant!
Ok, we had to walk down the stairs to the toilet, but we knew that before when booking this non-ensuite standard room. Everything was clean and well maintained.

I booked for a great cheap deal fairly last minute and so was pleasantly surprised when I saw the rooms were clean, all had free wifi and lovely fresh smelling sheets. Plus freeview on the tv. A total bargain in a great central location. There is a good parking deal available and the staff were really friendly. Not a bad breakfast either. Only downside was the toilet/bathroom being down the stairs but for the money I don't think this was a bad compromise.

Stayed with 2 friends in room 6 (triple). Wasn't expecting much but pleasantly surprised - basic but bright and clean, with a basin in the room. A bit inconvenient having go down 3 short flights of stairs for the nearest toilet but for the price, I'm not complaining!!
Staff friendly and helpful.
Breakfast in pub next door was very good, took a little while to arrive but nicely cooked and filling.
Overall very happy. Will stay here again.
