We booked Southcliffe based on the reviews and can honestly say it more than lived up to expectations. The number of guests returning know a good thing when they see it and we are so pleased we have found it.
Sue and Andy are lovely hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They provide a superb b & b package at a very reasonable price.
Our smaller double was anything but - we had plenty of space in the room and the en suite shower room with everything being spotlessly clean. Sue and Andy, you are underselling yourselves! The extras provided, from the high quality toiletries to the excellent hospitality tray with bespoke biscuits, little chocolates and bottled water left in the room daily, are more 5* hotel.
The breakfasts are delicious and you are spoilt for choice. I can highly recommend Sue's Southcliffe Sundae. We opted for the evening meal 3 out of our 4 nights (and this was only due to not knowing what time we would be back after a long day out) and they were freshly cooked and delicious. We don't think we could have eaten anywhere better. I could easily be converted to a 'veggie' after sampling two of the veggie options which were extremely tasty and filling.
We left Southcliffe on Friday morning and decided to have a last look at the town; a lady was obviously looking at the b & b's along Lee Road so we recommended Southcliffe to her. We hope she took our advice - she wouldn't be disappointed!
Thank you, Sue and Andy, for making us feel really welcome, and we hope it won't be too long before we see you again.

Room Tip: We don't think any of the rooms would disappoint.

Just returned from another fab stay with Sue and Andy. Each time it just gets better. Great hosts, excellent accommodation with all the super touches of a 5 star hotel, fantastic choices for breakfast and all tastes thoughtfully catered for. Ultimately all I can add is "Book early" and you won't be disappointed.

Booked the day before we went there. Great welcome: help with luggage, tea and cake, introduction to the area - where to eat, drink, walk, etc. Stayed 4 nights - breakfasts excellent with good choice though for us variations on the full English were difficult to beat.
Managed three walks from Andy/Sue's written descriptions. Hope to go back some time soon to do more walks from the doorstep.

Room Tip: We were concerned what the "smaller double" would be. No need to worry - 2nd floor at the...

We had a short break away from the hustle and bustle of life and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Southcliffe. We really appreciated the way Sue and Andy made us feel so welcome, from the moment we arrived to the moment we said goodbye and looked after us without ever making us feel uncomfortable or getting under our feet (although I'm sure we got under their's!). The quality of the room/facilities was excellent and breakfast saw us through most of the day. We have already recommended Southcliffe to our friends and will definitely stay there again if and when we go that way again.

We booked a long weekend at Southcliffe based on the reviews here and were not disappointed.

The B&B is fantastically located for hiking and to the beach. We were lucky to have a balcony room (it's definitely worth the extra!) and enjoyed the views over the hills. The room was comfortable and very well kitted out, we especially enjoyed the different shortbreads left by the tea every day! The bed was comfortable and offered a good night's sleep.

What ultimately had made us choose this B&B was the different breakfast options available and they did not disappoint. The breakfast is amazing! Good quality, generous portions and different options set us up for long days of hiking.

The owners were super friendly and helpful. They offered us maps and recommended great hikes that we may have missed otherwise.

We hope to come back for another holiday soon in Devon and will most definitely be coming back to Southcliffe.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room if you can!

Have been coming to Southcliffe for almost ten years and it has been our favourite B&B since the very first visit!
The most welcoming hosts, beautiful food, delightful rooms and of course a perfect setting!
As long as Andy Sue continue to open their doors to guests, we will keep coming back!

Couldn't recommend a better B&B if you want to stay in this gorgeous area. Lovely and informal, and Andy and Sue are so helpful when it comes to planning your visit. Endless maps, guide books and home made walking guides - plus a wealth of local knowledge!

A definite must is to take home some of Sues home made marmalade - the real deal!
Plus chocolates on the pillow and yummy biscuits too!

Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the two "balcony" rooms to make the most of the fabulous views across the t...

Andy and Sue were so accomodating from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
Our room was perfectly made with everything we could need for a comfortable stay.
Breakfast was lovely and it really felt like we had been invited into thier home.
Lynton is a beautiful part of the world and our stay at Southcliffe was the icing on the top!

Room Tip: We were in a twin room, no.4, which was at the top of the stairs. Not the best view but not hard to...
