If you are thinking of getting away to Exmoor and the North Devon coast and want a bit of luxury, stay at Highcliffe House. My husband and I have just returned and we both hope to stay there again soon.

We stayed in the exquisite Countisbury Room. The rooms are spotlessly clean (and this is coming from a clean freak), are beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you could want or need and the views are spectacular.

Karen and Mike are so welcoming, friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasure. Thanks to Mike for the advice on great walks. We completed a walk from Woolacombe beach to Baggy Point on the hottest day of the year so far, the scenery was breathtaking.

Breakfast at Highcliffe is something foodies dream of: a fantastic mouth-watering variety is available, freshly served and piping hot, and the fresh bread is to die for. Thank you Karen for your bread making tips!

I cannot recommend the Highcliffe enough for its high standard!

On behalf of the previous owners, Karen and Mike, thank you for taking time to write such a lovely review and recommendation. North Devon really is amongst some of the most beautiful places.

Wonderful in every respect. We couldn't fault it . The room, the breakfast, the view the service, the decor and the attention to detail were all perfect. We will definitely be back on our next visit to the UK!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few days and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We stayed in Countisbury which was very tastefully decorated, had a wonderfully comfy bed and a fantastic view out to the coast (and Wales!).

Karen and Mike were very welcoming and friendly - they went out of their way to help with our niggling issues but left us to our own devices - we felt like welcome house guests more than paying customers.

And the breakfast was fantastic - a perfect start to the day that often meant we didn't need to eat much more!

The only thing I would say is that you shouldn't expect to stay in the room all day when it's cold outside or plan to have a hot relaxing bath in the afternoon - the heating is turned off to save energy... but that's perfectly admirable and not at all a fault, just needed a bit of forward planning for our lazy days.

Can also recommend a horse-riding trip as the perfect way to see Exmoor!

On behalf of the previous owners, Karen and Mike, thank you for taking time to write such a lovely review. Just a note about the heating, under the new management, during cold periods the heating and hot water is always available to guests. This is the wrong place to feel cold, we want Highcliffe House to feel comfortable and cosy at all times.

We have been fortunate to stay at this wondrful property on more than one occasion, and we will return again! Everything from the location, rooms and breakfasts, are all faultless. Karen and Mike are great hosts, they are very attentive and friendly, without being intrusive. We had a fantastic stay in May, watching the Olympic torch parade from the high vantage point, and Karen even broke out the Champangne and scones for the special event (although Mike said 'any excuse!') what a treat!
The atmosphere that they have managed to create, leaves you with a wonderfully warm and relaxed feeling that just adds to the whole enjoyable experience. We will return again in 2013, and so should you!

Room Tip: The Myrtleberry room is a particular favourite, although we have stayed in the Summerhouse too which...

Spent two nights at Highcliffe House in the Myrtleberry Room. Superb room, large with huge bed and fantastic view across Lynton to the sea from the balcony.Everything was absolutely perfect with wonderful furnishings in the room and everything catered for!!
Only slight critism, and it is slight, is the light in the ensuite which needs to be brighter.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory looking out to the sea and couldn't be better. A huge selection of juices, cereal, fruit and yoghurts followed by an excellent choice of cooked breakfast's.
Lybton was a lovely place to visit as was Lynmouth. The walk down the zig zag path from Lynton to Lynmouth is fairly easy in the day but was a little testing in the dark as non of the solar powered lights recently installed worked!!
All in all a great place to stay in a nice part of Devon and would highly recommend.

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary and were greeted with a complimentary cream tea. The room was lovely, as they all seem to be. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed taking in the gorgeous view. The town is great and we enjoyed the Tapas restaurant and Sandfords at the Lynton Cottage Hotel.
