We found Rockvale during a last-minute Google search and called ahead for the one remaining room. Heather was very accommodating and waited for us until late in the evening. She gave us cards to fill out so we got exactly the home-cooked breakfast we wanted. Beautiful room with a small balcony that looked out on the alpine-reminiscent town of Lynton. Included a bathroom with a tub. Especially liked the homemade lemon curd during breakfast! Would stay there again!

We stayed at the Rockvale for just one night but will go back. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and all contained a very useful information pack full of ideas of what to do in the area. The breakfast was very tasty. Thank you

We arrived after completing the two moors way and were very muddy but still received a warm welcome. The hotel itself was spotless with very comfortable bedrooms as well as a lovely lounge, bar and dining room. We got helpful advice on a place to eat out, and help with finding a taxi service, as we had forgotten to order dinner at the hotel. She also very kindly took all of our EXTREMELY muddy shoes and dried them out in the airing cupboard (this was WAY above and beyond the call of duty).
The breakfast was lovely and the menu had a wide selection to choose from.
This was the most comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in mainly because of the friendly and relaxed atmosphere (even the dog and his cat were friendly).
Definitely worth a visit and the only place I'll stay if I come back to Lynton :-)

We arrived at Rockvale on May 10th after completing the Two Moors Way - Plymouth to Lynmouth....it took us 8 days to walk the trail and it was a wonderful experience! We arrived very muddy, and rather tired after our last 30 km day of walking....Heather gave us a wonderful welcome, and we immediately felt completely at home. Our breakfasts were fantastic, and Heather went out of her way to be helpful in every way, even to printing out bus information and directions for the day that we were leaving. I would recommend this place very highly, and we would certainly return if we are ever in the area.
Thank you! Margaret and Ron (Canada)

We stayed at the Rockvale, again, after a few years break visiting other countries. The ownership had moved to Heather and Alwyn, who made us very welcome. Again we had another very enjoyable stay. The Rockvale is wonderfully comfortable and the bedroom (6) quaint and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep. The food, both breakfast and evening meal, were marvellous. Alwyn is a wonderful cook. After a day out visiting the many attractions around Lynton/Lynmouth it was a good feeling knowing you was going back to a comfortable hotel. The atmosphere in the hotel was very good and we talked to the other guests with interesting conversations, which you don't get in some places you stay at. This is a highly recommended hotel. Enjoy your stay. We will definately go back.

Room Tip: Room 6 has a great view and very comfortable.
