Owner description: Where the lush valleys of Hoar Oak Water and the East Lyn river tumble together sits Watersmeet House, a 19th-century fishing lodge, now a National Trust shop, tea room and information point. Watersmeet House was built in 1832 as a fishing lodge by the Reverend W.S. Halliday, the son of a rich businessman. The stone for the house was quarried at Watersmeet, above the East Lyn River. Sitting in a beautiful wooded river valley, Watersmeet and its surrounds are a fantastic place to walk, and enjoy the abundant wildlife and nature of this part of Exmoor.

This is a National Trust tea room in a most spectacular location, well worth the walk from Lynmouth.

A lovely afternoon's walk to Watersmeet takes about 45 minutes each way. The National Trust have converted Watersmeet House, a former fishing lodge into a ship and tea rooms. The food is excellent and welcome reward after walking there.

Try to visit when the grounds are in sunshine-somewhat limited in winter due to deep valley location

What a find, after a 2 mile walk up through the Gorge there was this delightful coffee shop with the most delicious scones and cakes.

Always worth a visit when walking in the Lyn Valley and I usually feel I deserve a rewarding slice of something sweet and a pot of tea by the time I arrive. Good home made cakes. Lots of seating outside in a beautiful setting.
