We stayed for two nights at this fabulously placed hotel. The views from both our room, the restaurant and garden are glorious. The staff are wonderfully trained and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location and hotel supplied us with everything we needed for a lovely, restful weekend.

Room Tip: We had room 4 which had the most glorious views out to sea.

We decided to visit Lynmouth on the spur of the moment. Booked the Rock House on Booking.com and weren’t disappointed. The welcome was exceptional and our room looked out over the river mouth. We were given a full run down of the facilities and were able to park right outside. Being so central it was ideal for exploring the town, catching the Cliff Railway up to Lynton and walking up the riverside to Watersmeet. We dined in the hotel’s cosy restaurant which looks out over the harbour. The food was very good, and the service friendly and efficient. I had the Sea Bream which was perfectly cooked and certainly larger than a sardine (previously reported)!
Breakfast in the morning was plentiful. On the menu was a ‘full English’, vegetarian, cheese and ham or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. There was also a selection of cereals and fruit juices and plenty of tea and coffee.
We would highly recommend a stay at the Rock House.

we decided to have our lunch here while on holiday,it looked so lovely as we walked over the bridge to it so we sat in the garden and i decided to have a traditional cream tea, and my husband had pastie and chips , well the scones certainly didnt look home made they looked like the ones i buy at the supermarket their was a very small pot of jam, which actually came from tiptree in essex (not far from where we live!!) which was not enougth jam for two scones, by the time by hubbys food was brought up (i'd finished mine) his meal was more less droped on the table by the youg boy delivering the food to the table's, as he had more plates in his hands for more tables (not his fault he was rushing around eveywhere), well i wont go into more but lets just say my husband didnt enjoy his lunch so it felt quite a let down to say the least.

Just returned from a week traveling round Devon and Cornwall, we was staying in the Village Inn, and looked at this hotel thinking it would be nice when we come back to stay at this, cut a long story short, we (4 of us) went over for a evening meal, My partner asked for Steak Med/Well done, there was blood pouring all over the plate, me i had opted for the Sea Bream, with noodles and stir fried veg, my plate was put in front of me, and i imediately questioned the size of the fish (I can only describe as like half a sardine size) it was taken back to the chef who insisted that is the regular portion size, after the shock of this it was very nice, and the noodles very tasty, then i realised i had not been given any stir fried veg, again we pointed this out to the staff, whom again queried with the chef, and was told the veg was 'hiding' under the noodles.......................Need i go on .......there was no customer sevice or apologies even tho this hotel looks very nice We wont be going back... :( ps the other 2 meals (steak) were Just OK

Just spent 5 very wet days in Lynmouth.
Thankfully we chose to stay at The Rock House Hotel, which made the days a whole lot better.
Breakfast was outstanding and the evening meal too with a good choice of wine.
The view from our window looked out on to the harbour, with the water lapping up to
the hotel at high tide.We felt the room was slightly on the small side but adequate for our needs. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. If we were being picky,we felt the bar lacked an atmosphere with no background music. But overall a great place to stay
