“warm and welcoming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

We stayed here for one night at the start of a touring holiday. This is a lovely welcoming hotel, in very picturesque part of the country. Rooms are good sized, clean and warm, although the shower in our room was a little unpredictable on temperature!
Traditional choice for breakfast, but limited vegetarian options. Tasty enough without being exceptional.
One word of warning - the owners dogs come in and out of the lounge area. We love dogs, so were happy with that, but if you have any objections to dogs it might be worthwhile mentioning it to the owners on booking. I am certain that they will keep them out of your way if asked.

We stayed at the East Lyn House Hotel and had a most fantastic time.

Sally and Paul were very friendly hosts, and on arrival made us a pot of tea with flapjack after our evening journey.

The place is very tastefully decorated, and has a nice homely feel to it.

We stayed in Room 5 which was light and airy and well presented, and the views from both windows looking up and down the river were fantastic ... 'Little Switzerland at it's best!'
The only minor gripe was the bathroom needs modernising, with the shower over bath definitely seeing better days. But Sally and Paul are new and they told us that the plans are to modernised the bathrooms later in the year.

We had a great night sleep on both nights, and a nice touch is that we get left a little pot of fresh milk outside our door for our morning tea or coffee.

Breakfasts are fantastic taken in the little breakfast room adjacent to the outside patio, and the choice of cereal, juice, yoghurt, home baked bread and the English breakfasts ..... well, yummy!!

We will definitely choose the East Lyn if we come back to stay in Lynmouth!!!

Our first return since East Lyn House changed hands.
Our verdict - excellent. Great to meet the new owners, Paul and Sally ( not forgetting Daphne) and found that they are warm, welcoming and very hospitable.
Definitely worth staying if you are in the area as you will be made very welcome - we will be back in the near future!

Room Tip: The views from room 5 are great and leaving the window which faces the door slightly open allows you...

Stayed here at the end of August. Found Paul and Sally very welcoming. Best breakfast ever.
Wonderful location. Our room was up two flights of stairs but well worth the climb.Room was
beautifully presented. Would definately stay here again, if in the area. Parking was an
absolute bonus. More than highly recommended. Thank you Paul and Sally.

Location is stunning, something new to explore every day. Paul and sally were friendly and accommodating and intuitive to guests needs I.e those who need privacy or those who enjoyed company. Rooms are ever so clean, well decorated & nicely furnished.
Sound of the stream outside was calming to go off to sleep by. Full English breakfast is the best we've had in a long time.
Also en suite shower room & W.C were separate. Nice touch!

minus-we could not stay longer, we will return.

Room Tip: Stay in 1 room per night as every one is as lovely as the next!!!!(sorry best if not impractical adv...

A very warm and friendly welcome from the new owner Sally. We were offered tea on arrival. Our room was clean, warm, comfortable and well maintained. The breakfast was superb. The house is in ideal location. We had a great stay. Paul and Sally were excellent hosts. We will return..

Very nice to be welcomed with tea on the patio almost hanging over the river - room was clean & well decorated (just a shame that matress was a very hard memory foam & there was no shower gell or shampoo provided in lovely en suite) We had fabulous views from both our windows - upstream & downstream to sea.Lovely breakfast with suberb home made bread & real bonus of secure garage parking.

Room Tip: Room 1 has super dual aspect views
