Description: Welcome to Al-Farid Mezz Bar & RestaurantUmar ibn ‘Al-Farid’ was an Arab poet, his poetry is entirely suffic ,and he was esteemed mystic poet of the Arabs. Our head chef has created a thoughtful menu that delights the taste buds. A firm favourite is the mezze, an array of small succulent dishes. The mezze comprised both cold and hot dishes and offers a wealth of colour flavour, texture and aroma. An attribute of Moroccan food is the fact that is healthy as well as tasty and filling.A choice of traditional Moroccan dessert is an offer to complements the meal, expect Baklava a sweet pastry, and Mhallableyh, rice pudding with rose water. Also the drink menu is Moroccan national drink, Arak, which has an aniseed base, and a variety of fruit juices. To finish your meal you cannot miss out on one of our Moroccan coffee, flavoured wit natural cardamom, cinnamon or rose water. No bona fide Moroccan meal complete without smoking an authentic hooka pipe. Each day the water pipes are packed with fresh flavoured tobaccos, choose between apples, strawberry, cherry, rose, grape or fruit cocktail.

“Tucked away by the Cathedral”
Reviewed November 5, 2013

Lovely, good value lunchtime menu. £6.95. £5 plus for a glass of wine. Will definitely be going back.

Comfortably cosy & informal. Some low (very low) sofas, colourful cushions, brass lamps, brass topped tables and other Moroccan 'stuff' . Welcome to the Cazbah. Definitely full of character so don't expect white linen and silver cutlery.

“Excellent place for a vegetarian lunch”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

Called in here whilst visiting the cathedral. An excellent range of food for a vegetarian. Beware, however, as the food is deceptively hot. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good value too.

“FANTASTIC”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

I was hoping to come on Trip adviser and give this restaurant some good comments, but I have been Beet to it.All the good comments are true it is FANTASTIC I have travelled considerably, I have NEVER been so chilled out sitting / lying on the rugs after our meal, we got chating to the manager and his partner had a good laugh and relaxed time.
Over all great food mezz, great service if I find myself in Exeter, I will certainly be going back, well done the Al Farid
