Description: A family , dog friendly pub. Serving traditional english pub grub, teas, coffees, cakes and breakfast. Having recently been refurbished and up dated with new owners we have introduced an indoor and out door play area with family dining next to play area and adult dining in the main hub of the pub. There is an sofa area near the open fireplace to relax and unwind . There is also a little sweet shop for those who have a sweet tooth. To the back of the pub there is a beer garden with a built in bbq which is ideal for those warm summer afternoons. We are open from 10am through to 9pm for food Monday to Saturday , bar from 10am to 11pm, Sunday from 10am through to 8pm for food, bar 10am to 10.30Pm

Ended up here for lunch because our preferred choice of pub was closed on the bank holiday. Sirloin steak was average but priced as if it was something special. Devon f@ggots (tripadvisor thinks that word constitutes a profanity, apparently) looked undercooked and very unappetising - when we queried their appearance, we were told that the chef had probed them so they should be ok. Tables were sticky and the pub is too big for any real atmosphere to develop. Staff were friendly and the service reasonably fast. We won't go back - why bother when there is better food and atmosphere available within a few miles?

My friends and I visited this pub for dinner the other evening and could not fault it; nothing seemed too much trouble, the staff were really friendly and the food was great. We will be going back again next week. I recommend the Dawlish Chicken!

I came up from Cornwall to meet with some friends at Exeter Services - what a zoo that is and it is beyond me that anyone would choose to eat there when you have the Twisted Oak at Ide 15 minutes down the road. Nice welcome from Carl who went out of his way to serve us well and succeeded! We sat in the comfortable and light conservatory (though there is of course a traditional pub part too). Two of us had the tagliatelle carbonara which was very tasty and one had the scampi. Portions are generous. We noted that the chef kindly did our small table ahead of a very large group who had just booked a minute or so before us and this was appreciated as we did not have to wait long for our food. The bill was just over £30 including drinks so good value too. Thankyou.

We live nearby and tried the Sunday Carvery today. It was absolutely fantastic - a friendly welcome, tender meat, crispy roast potatoes and a massive selection of accompanying vegetables. And not overpriced, either. The pub has a lovely garden and massive play area complete with rope swings, tunnels and slides which our granddaughters loved. We will definitely be back.
