We visit here most times we eat out. Why? It's an absolute pleasure without a trace of pretense.
The food is excellent- honest stuff without fancy distractions. The menu isn't huge but that's really not a problem. They make it all themselves so it's fresh and tasty. They cater well for veggies too.
Price-wise two people can eat well with a beer for around 30 quid. I've paid more than that per person in popular chains in Exeter and come away less happy.
The service is informal and exactly the right level of cheerfulness.
The only slight downer is that it sometimes lacks a bit of atmosphere but only when it's quiet. The more people there are in the better it becomes!
