Description: The ASK Italian restaurant group boasts an excellent Exeter venue, situated in a stunning period building on the green next to Exeter Cathedral. The ASK Italian restaurant has recently gone through an extensive refurbishment. We've created a restaurant with a distinctive new look inspired by modern Italian design. And with the help of our expert friends, including awarding-winning chef Theo Randall, we've created a menu that features a range of simple, classic Italian food and an all Italian wine list.

Ate here in a group of five. Service was slow - polite and friendly - but slow. Problems in the kitchen seemed to be the problem. Team members did apologise for delays with orders. That said, 2 hours to get two courses served was not good. Long wait between. Have only been to Ask twice recently and both times the same problem. Used to go quite often. Nice enough, but either not enough staff or delays in preparing dinner. It does make a difference: two of us had to choose where to send colleagues for dinner for other occasions and we sent two larger groups elsewhere because the experiences here were disappointing.

Friendly, polite service and a very good overall standard. You pay for what you get and this is in the middle price range for Italian style food. Compares favourably with other pizza joints in the City and was really impressed in the accommodation of a 7year old child who was made to feel special and therefore relly enjoyed eating out with 4 adults!

Enjoyed a very nice lunch being thoroughly spoilt by the excellent staff. Sean really did his best to look after us - excellent welcome, nice table and excellent service throughout. The food was very reasonably priced and it was all served when we wanted it and without being rushed. Overall, very good indeed.

Quick friendly service at a very reasonable price. Loved the informal atmosphere and the fact that you could stay at your table as long as you wished. Food very good. We had a great time and look forward to returning soon

From the welcome upon arrival, throughout our meal to the time when we departed every member of staff we met here was superb. Knowledgable and we noticed very friendly with several children in the restaurant. Service was also very quick. Outside the restaurant was a large poster showing a lobster and prawns, on every table was a similar picture in a special holder advertising the new Tagliatelle Con Aragosta e Frutti di Mare (Tagliatelle with lobster and king prawns in a creamy tomato sauce with a hint of chilli, topped with a king prawn in its shell and crunchy herb croutons). Sounded great so two of us ordered this. We were swiftly informed that only one portion remained. This was 5.30pm on a Friday evening and they'd run out of the new signature dish! I ended up with the one remaining portion and it was a disappointment. A good hit of chilli
but the shell-on prawn was overcooked and fell apart, the king prawns were four or five small prawns of the frozen variety and I could detect no lobster. The staff all wear T-shirts with the slogan "Respect the Pasta". This pasta most certainly had not been respected, it was boiled to a slimy sogginess. £14.95 for a bowl of overcooked pasta was expensive by any standards) My friends gave a good report on the seafood linguine, but linguine also overcooked, and two Calzones were declared "okay".
