We arrived there on 11/7/2013 and stayed for lunch. The most striking feature was how the restaurant was well organised and staff trained in a professional manner. The food was excellent especially the soup of the day which was mushroom,a meal in itself. The only thing which made me unease was that I was asked to leave my debit card at the bar while we had our meal outside, this shows untrust, there must be another way that the management could with it.Oterwise everything was perfect.

From the minute I arrived the staff were very helpful, very pleasant and keen to look after the client. The General Manager himself was pleasant and helpful, checking everything was good for me and asking if I needed anything else. The single bedroom was small but what single room isn't? It was clean and did what it was required to do, a place to rest my head. The meeting room was of a great size, just a tad close to a busy main road. Meals were super, all of them and restaurant staff all pleasant and helpful.Prices reasonable. No complaints only praise.

The hotel is close to the road networks and lies on the edge of the city. A first class place to stay providing good value for money. The Food is delicious and staff friendly - nothing is too much trouble. A very relaxing place to be . My wife and i come here on a regular basis and although we have not stayed in the hotel because we live locally friends and family have said how comfy clean and accommodating it is. We also have regular business meetings here and have never been disappointed les

Just returned from yet another highly enjoyable leisure break at the Devon Hotel.Happy to say that the standards remain consistently high over the years and in all areas.
The Bar/Restaurant is a particular delight with a good menu and prompt service, and the Full English Breakfast is excellent.
The gardens and lawns are well maintained throughout the seasons.
Good and easy car parking.
Hotel ideally situated for visiting Exeter and south Devon.

Thank you Craig and all the staff who worked so hard to make our day special. Everything worked like clockwork and timed to perfection. The food was delicious and plentiful. One very minor issue was one of our guests who couldn't drink alcohol due to being pregnant was charged for her coke at the table even though we had payed for a drinks package for all adult guests? I'm sure this was an oversight by Simon the manager.... apart from that, I couldn't fault the service, thank you once again for a beautiful wedding.

Hi, just back from two nights having attending a wedding in Carriages on Saturday afternoon. The weather was superb and we were able to enjoy the grounds before and after the wedding. The staff were superb especially the young manager on his first wedding I believe. The food was excellent and plentiful. Our room was on the front but we weren't unduly worried with traffic noise despite having the windows open. A superb venue

We chose this hotel because of its location in the central south-west of England. The photos and descriptions on Trip Advisor and Booking.Com also influenced our choice.

At first, we were pleased at the overall ambience of the hotel and a very kind male staff helped us carry our bags to the tiniest room in which we have every stayed. We could not believe the lack of space; and in my many years of travelling throughout the world, I have only ever come across one or two smaller hotel rooms. There was only space for one very small suitcase, the remainder had to find a location on the floor.

The best attribute of this hotel was the cleanliness. The rooms were spotless and the tiny bathroom was very well designed to for a bath, toilet and basin with small cupboards.

Apart from the small size of the rooms, our main problem with this hotel was the noise. The front of the hotel is located alongside a very busy roundabout and, although we were given a back room, there was a great deal of traffic noise. We arrived in hot weather and our room had no air conditioning so we had to keep the windows open. There seemed to be a busy road at the back of the hotel as well, so we either melted in the heat of the room or had to put up with the noise.

For two evenings, we had a very noisy group of young men next door. They could not get mobile phone reception inside the hotel so spoke loudly to their friend/family on their mobile phones just outside out window when we were trying to get to sleep at night. Free wi fi and parking were other reasons for choosing this hotel. While the parking was good, the wi fi reception was very poor. We had to keep logging on every ten minutes or so and some evenings, I could not get connected at all.

Another annoying aspect was that, while breakfasts were including in the price of our booking, we had to pay a substantial supplement if we required something special like kippers or haddock. These were included in the other hotels we stayed on our trip.

I doubt whether I would stay at this hotel again as we heard other guests complaining about the size of their rooms too.
