It is a beautifully tranquil place to relax, chat, meet friends and take some time over the deliciously indulgent food and drinks that are baked and prepared daily on the premises. The menu includes a good selection of loose leaf teas, locally roasted organic fairtrade coffee and traditional cold drinks offered alongside a constantly evolving spread of homemade cakes, sweet treats and light lunches, all served on an eclectic collection of fine vintage bone china. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available every day. Traditional Afternoon Tea from £14.50pp (booking is recommended). A must for vintage enthusiasts and cake lovers alike!

From the 1940s music to the mismatched china and charming wooden furniture, this lovely teashop is everything that afternoon tea should be. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, the proprietor welcoming, the tea freshly prepared from real leaves, not bags, and the delicious snacks are all homemade. Only a short walk from wherever you are parking in Exeter city centre and well worth the trip!

Fore St is on the 'up' if more little businesses like this open. We were casual passing trade (although we're locals) and loved the retro feeling, memorabilia and warm welcome. We had tea/coffee (in real china cups/teapots) and the scones were very tasty but a little 'heavy', otherwise we would have given 5 stars. Good luck with this venture, we'll return and bring friends.

Right on trend with mismatched antique pieces, and 1950s style cute. Perfect for afternoon tea with the girls. Scones were delicious.

This delightful tea room is an absolute must if, like me, you enjoy whiling away an afternoon drinking a fine tea or coffee, reading a book or a newspaper, chatting with friends or sitting on your own, and just watching the world go by.
This place really IS a hidden treasure. I love all things 'vintage' and this place won't disappoint! The furniture is a fantastic mix of different vintage styles, shapes, colours and textures - on walking in for the first time I immediately felt at home and it was like being in somebody's living room - my eyes eagerly searching out for the best available seat and it was a personal struggle to choose between the comfortable looking sofa in one corner, or one of the seats in the huge window that offers a cracking view on the street outside! As it was I spent half the day on the sofa, and the other half in the window!
There is a superb collection of vintage china, and your food and drink will be served on it. I found it somehow immensely satisfying to sit in a tea room with such character - knowing that the scones had been freshly baked in the premises that morning by Vicki Parks who runs this independant business. She is very friendly and welcoming - you really can stay as long as you like and I did! The tea and coffee are both excellent. The tea is loose leaf and full of flavour - and the coffee machine is just awesome. Stay long enough to try both.
The shops are a short distance up the hill. When you visit make sure you visit the adjacent vintage curiosity shop.
The Hidden Treasure Tea Room is the sort of place I would like to spend a lazy Sunday with friends. I was sat in the window during rush hour today and all the people in the stationary cars outside all looked in, full of curiosity at this wonderfully English tea room - it might be a 90 minute drive from home for me but it won't be long until I am back in the window or on the sofa, munching a scone, savouring a cup of tea and generally feeling relaxed and calm - if it's ambience you want, don't walk past this place! It will appeal to all serious tea and coffee lovers, regardless of age!

Anyone and everyone visiting or living in Exeter ought to visit this fantastic little cafe! My boyfriend and I live right around the corner and went along on a drizzly Sunday for a late lunch. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to make our experience a good one.

The food is delicious (we tried pea and mint soup and savoury scones as well as cake) and extremely reasonably priced for the quality and amount you receive. The loose leaf tea is fab and they were happy to keep topping up our teapot with fresh hot water. We ended up staying almost the whole afternoon, drinking tea and playing one of their board games. Unlike many cafes we didn't feel like the staff were in a hurry for us to buy things and leave - they were happy to have us sit comfortably playing games. Of course as a result we bought a lot more! The decoration is kitch and vintage, with a collection of unusual tea pots and mismatched china.

Come to this lovely tea room - you won't regret it!
