Description: Our inspiration for the food and design of Cote is a modern interpretation of the many famous bistros of Paris. Inspired by new trends, we are dedicated to serving authentic classic brasserie dishes with a modern twist, using high quality produce at great prices. On the menu, guests will always find brasserie favourites on our a la carte menu such as steak frites, moules marinieres, corn-fed chicken from rural Brittany and tuna Nicoise, for dessert, Cote's creme caramel and creme brulee are much-loved house specialities. Seasonality and Cote's commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients results in a monthly changing specials menu, ensuring there is always something new to delight regular guests and gastronomes alike, as well as the excellent value set menu. Open early every day for breakfast, through to lunch and dinner; Cote's atmosphere is informal and friendly.

We visited the restaurant today with our children of 4 years and 7 years. Our eldest is a fussy eater and very particular when it comes to food. The service we received was excellent. They accommodated my sons requests with a sincere 'no problem'. The food was fantastic, excellent quality and beautifully presented. Having lived in Exeter for many years and being someone who eats out regularly this is, in my opinion one of Exeter's very best restaurants. If you go midweek it's much cheaper too!

Ok so first the food was ok but that's it just ok nothing to shout about but nothing to make you want to go back. Service the worst I have ever had meals arriving at different times both for main and starters ( by the time we all had our food ( table of 8) some of it was cold) no apology given or offered. Unfriendly and abrupt service ( we were told to clear our own plates). Told off for using the wrong glasses and cutlery although no others were available to use, it was a real chore for the waiter to replace them.
Drinks were slow coming even after asking for more wine it just did not arrive until we asked it again.
If Cote you want to charge the prices you do then you need to back it up with the service and food. If you can't deliver be honest and accept the market you should be in and charge appropriately.

Recently visited for a meal with my wife having never been before, it was a great decision. From the start our waitress was very friendly and caring despite being busy.
What took it from great to excellent was that the chef was happy to change my wife's dish dramatically to work around her allergies. Both of our starters and mains were cooked perfectly (including my steak) and at a great price for the level of service.
Ignore the comment below about 'beware the 12% service charge"... it's discretionary anyway and by the end of your meal I think you'll feel they deserve it.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday evening. We were seated upstairs on request, close to the window which gave a great view of the floodlit cathedral and square.
Service was attentive but not intrusive and we chose to order from the special £9.95 menu. The food was nicely cooked, moist and well presented. if you don't go for the special deal, there is a good choice available at varying prices. The brasserie also offers a special two course menu on Monday to Friday until 7pm if you are on a budget. The only down side is the 12 and a half per cent service charge which is put on top of the bill. We were happy to pay it on this occasion but it can mount up if your bill is substantial.
A refreshing change to eat somewhere different and not to resort to the mass Italian chains found on every high street. A pleasant surprise. We will be back.

This restaurant is deceptive when you go in! It is quite small and cafe like downstairs but upstairs is much bigger, lighter and has fabulous views of the cathedral. Service was friendly and efficient and food was very good. I had fantastic fillet steak which comes with thin crispy fries. Also had crunchy green beans and a kind of blue cheese butter for the steak. I like that it is served on the side so you can add to the steak as you wish rather than it all melting at once! We went on a Wednesday evening and it was busy but not frantic, we did book before we left home but probably didn't need to.
