“One of the Best Restaurant in Exeter”

Wear Park Restaurant
Ranked #282 of 527 Restaurants in Exeter
Price range: $6 - $21
Description: Food, setting and service are the cornerstones of a good restaurant and Wear Park Restaurant at Exeter Golf and Country Club ticks each box comfortably. Our restaurant and bar overlook the putting green and golf course with outdoor seating on the terrace and patio. The restaurant is on the ground floor of our historic Georgian manor house with floor to ceiling sash windows, chandeliers and ornate features. The atmosphere is one of relaxed elegance and we welcome everyone, with open doors! You don't have to be a member of the club to enjoy lunch, dinner or drinks in Wear Park Restaurant - although you can enjoy a discount if you are. Our team of chefs (previously of Harry's Grill Bar fame) is headed up by Adam Little, who took on the mighty Michael Caines in a cook off competition at the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink in 2014...and won. Come along and see for yourself how his seasonal concoctions of the freshest, local ingredients wow diners from light lunches with colleagues and clients to dinners with friends or family. Our afternoon teas are sensational...when washed down with a chilled Prosecco looking out across perfectly manicured greens, we believe they are the best in the city. Sunday lunches are an English tradition and ours have always been pretty damn good. However, we want to offer more than that and so we have a pianist performing live each Sunday at our Piano Sunday Lunches with acclaimed pianist Matt Carter. RESTAURANT OPENING TIMES: Monday - Thursday: 9am - 5pm Friday and Saturday: 9am - 9pm Sunday: 10am - 5pm

“One of the Best Restaurant in Exeter”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

Wear Park has come a long way in the past year, when it was relaunched. I'm not a member of the club, but dine here frequently, and I imagine some people don't know that the restaurant is open to non-members. The food is always good, the decor is classy, and the staff are friendly. Plus, the location is absolutely gorgeous, in an old Georgian manor, surrounded by huge trees and the golf course.

The menu is locally sourced, which is always a plus, and overall I've not had a bad experience since it reopened. Lunch or Dinner, it's always great. This year I'm going to book a Christmas dinner as well, since the menu looked so good last year.

I'd recommend Wear Park for any occasion, although in the elegant setting, you might feel a bit dressed down if you were in a tshirt and flip flops. Definitely beats all the big chains on the high street!

“Great food, poor service.”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Having seen copious amounts of advertising for this re-branded establishment, I was keen to give it a go. However, the warning bells should have rung when I tried to book a table the day before and the young chap who answered the phone didn't have a clue what time lunch was served until, and was generally confused with the concept of a customer making a booking. When we arrived, several young staff were at the bar chatting but made no effort to approach us, and appeared to be trying to pretend we weren't there. Eventually, by asking continuously, we were given a menu and pre-lunch drink, only to be left outside where we started to panic that we'd been forgotten...it was now 1.55pm and they stop serving lunch at 2pm! Their lunchtime menu, any two courses for £12 is a real bargain, especially given the variety of options on the menu, and the quality of the food. Eventually a manager arrived and he was great; efficient and knowledgeable, unlike the waiter, who told us he couldn't recommend the food as he's never tried any of it. The bread rolls were warm, which these days is unusual, but then we realised that they needed to be, to melt the butter which seemed to have come from the freezer. Our starters were lovely, as were the mains, and it is a very elegant place to enjoy lunch or an evening meal. However, the level of service really let it down. We came away feeling let down. What could have been a wonderful lunch and a regular place to lunch/dine, just became frustratingly hard work and not worth the bother. Seems a shame, as the kitchen team are obviously putting in the effort, which just isn't being matched by the front of house. Worth it for the food, if you can be bothered with dealing with truculent young staff. I can't.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your recent experience at Wear Park Bar and Restaurant.

I am delighted that you enjoyed the food so much however, I apologise for your disappointment regarding the service you received on the day you visited for lunch.

I am very sorry you did not experience our usual high levels of service. The team in Wear Park have been working hard recently to improve, with developments in our training of new team members especially. This is unusual as the majority of the feedback we recieve is excellent.

I do hope that you will return to us soon either for our lunch offer, which continues now, or for one of our dinner offers (2 courses for £12 between 6pm and 7pm or during September 3 course dinner for 2 for £29.95) when I trust you will experience excellent service regarding both the food AND the waiting staff.

If you would like to contact us directly, please email info@exetergcc.co.uk.

With best wishes
