This is a great place to eat and drink and the meal we had was lovely. The atmosphere was good and the staff were friendly.

The pub is clean, tidy and the outside tables look good for the better seasons.

We will return.

We had never been to the New Inn at Alphington, Exeter before and we only when there because it was my mother's 81st birthday, and that’s where she choose to go when we took her out for a lunchtime meal.

The pub has been totally revamped outside and inside and has a nice modern feel to it and with very comfortable chairs.

We were shown to our table by Maria who was polite and friendly the who time we were there

The drink prices were good and the barman was friendly.

There was an extensive food menu and a daily specials board as well we placed our order and we were told by Maria that everything on the menu is made and cooked to order including the vegetables and the hand cut chips!

Our food arrived and we were not disappointed I had gammon (see photo) Mum had Liver and bacon and Dan had Bear Battered Cod.

The portion sizes were very large indeed, we were all blown away with the quality of our food and what we were told was true, all of it was fresh even down to the peas! and all cooked to perfection I had a side portion of Onion Rings and even they were handmade and in the most perfect light and crunchy batter I have ever tasted and the chips were so tasty.

Overall we could not fault anything not even the toilets which were spotless and well maintained.

If you love food, you love it here, the best pub food I have had for quite a while and the cost for our meal and drinks came to £38 for the three of us, the rest of Exeter’s pubs should take note as at the New Inn they have got it spot on, we will defiantly be coming back, well done and thank you.

The pub has been refurbished in the past couple of years and is clean & well presented. The staff are friendly & the owner always makes time to chat if he's around.

Due to the no smoking law, most smokers will sit outside, so sometimes you can be outside and the majority of people around you are smoking, which can be off putting if you're a non smoker, What this pub has done is one area of outside decked area is non-smoking and the other side is a smoking area with tables and it is covered incase of bad weather. They have tried to cater for everyone.

We've had sandwiches before which were fine, can't comment on the hot food as haven't had any, but it always looks good when it comes out of the kitchen.

Would recommend this pub.

At last! The New Inn, Alphington, Exeter has seen a long awaited and total refurbishment.
Very clean and tidy. Well managed and staffed. The menu is very good but the meals themselves are fabulous. Obviously a well managed kitchen. Very good service all round. good for a pub lunch or evening meal. The only thing missing is atmosphere.

havent been to the New Inn before, went on a Friday lunchtime and was very busy, which was a good sign. we ordered sandwiches which came with a choice of tortilla chips or real chips ! went for the real chips which were really tasty and just like chip shop chips! the other meals that other diners were eating looked really nice. Will definitely return .
