We went to see Still/Current, ballet/dance set to fantastic music and lighting. It was stunning to watch. We had a pre theatre meal at the Northcott Restaurant which was well presented, a platter of Tapas and a platter of Antipasti, served by a delightful student that had only been in University for 5 weeks. What an opportunity for the students to have the theatre and the restaurant to watch performances/work in.

The production was great but it was totally spoilt by the theatre being too hot. There is no air conditioning, and I realise that it is expensive to put in but it will put people off coming back.
We felt positively sick by the interval and contemplated leaving but when we complained we were told that it was being looked in to, so we continued with the show but by the time the show finished everyone made a dash for it. Which was a shame for the cast as they had no encore as everyone just wanted to leave.
We had no trouble parking at the university. We are hoping to go again in the WINTER! Considering what the local council spend money on surely a grant for air conditioning for this local theatre should be considered.

We watched grampa in my pocket, it was a fantastic show, lovely small theatre, good selection of food and drinks. Staff checking tickets could work on their customer service (smiling isn't that hard girls!!), but very friendly staff behind the cafe. Will definitely return. Allow plenty of time to park, this was not easy and directions given weren't great!

I have been to the Northcott three times in the last two months and the problem has all ways been the same. Too hot. This has spoilt my enjoyment of the production. It never used to be like this. It is as though they have left the heating on. As for the parking mentioned in other reviews, there was a shuttle bus from the theatre to the main car parks but it was decided that it was not necessary.

I like the intimacy of the theatre but it was so hot that I couldn't bear to stay for the second half. Pre-show meal in Spires Cafe Bar was not very good. The food is overpriced and not of a high standard. Drinks have to be ordered separately which isn't convenient. I would NOT recommend this place for eating.

Dear lasajp,

We're sorry you had an uncomfortable visit to Exeter Northcott Theatre recently. The theatre building is almost 50 years old and unfortunately is not equipped with air conditioning, which can make visiting our theatre in the summer months uncomfortable. This is a matter of great regret to us, but we just don't have the money available to install a suitable system.

We're also sorry to hear that you were disatisfied with your pre-show meal, and will highlight your review with our catering partners Spires - this is surprising news for us we normally receive much praise for their food offering. On the matter of separate payments for drinks, this is because the licence to sell alcohol is held solely by Exeter Northcott Theatre, and not Spires Catering, who are a partner business.

Kind regards,
Jenny
