A comfortable and welcoming pub but disappointed at the carvery. The meat was dry and the potatoes and parsnips were soggy. The cabbage was just horrible I couldn´t eat it. However my daughter had the bbq ribs which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Visited on a Tuesday so not the busiest day of the week. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. The menu although not huge was well thought out. I had the homemade Steak and Kidney pud which was beautiful and very tasty packed with lovely steak and kidney, no skimping on the filling. It was served with creamy mashed potato and a good selection of nicely cooked vegetables. For a sweet can really recommend the Bread and butter pudding again all home made as was the gorgeous chocolate browny. The real ales on offer were well kept and expertly drawn. Will be going back to this hostelry again.

Good food and beer at a reasonable price. The choice is varied and freshly cooked. We visit quite often, especially with bellringing friends.

Our party of 21 had a great Mystery Tour on 18 October, we started with a breakfast in the Dartmoor Inn at Lydford, had a light lunch at the George & Dragon near Topsham and ended up at the Travellers Rest for Dinner, having stopped off at a couple of pubs for an ale or two en route. The food in the Travellers was excellent, with generous portions. the staff were friendly and helpful, although they seemed a bit thin on the ground with only one young lady trying to serve drinks whilst also having to collect our monies for our meals. Consequently a long queue developed. The only sour note was that they wouldn't even give our coach driver a cup of tea let alone a meal so we quickly arranged a whip round. This was the first pub/restaurant that has not given our coach driver a meal in all our years(15) since we started our monthly day trips.
