For a good meal in the Sidmouth/Honiton/Exeter area its hard to find better than the Halfway Inn. Don't be put off by the slighly ramshackle exterior: inside we found modern decor, comfortable seating, a fairly extensive menu and a good selection of wines.

The Beef and Otte Ale pie was tasty, the Fish Pie delicious and the lamb shank was so tender it melted in tge mouth. Also recommended are the mussels in crab sauce.

Only minor niggle - as someone who likes lashings of custard with hot desserts, I was disappointed that the only accompaniment on offer was ice cream; even though it was nice, it wasn't custard!

Pricing was good. Eight of us had 2 courses, two rounds of coffee, two bottles of wine and some soft drinks fir just over £200.

Will certainly go back next time I'm in the area.

We had two nice lunches here in December. It has a great range of light bite options as well as larger dishes. The mussels were particularly good! The chef and his team obviously take pride in their dishes, and they are all tasty and well presented. A nice touch is the live camera stream into the kitchen so you can watch them prepare you meal.

If you can get a table looking out of the panoramic window over the valley you should do so - the view is lovely. However, the rest of the dining room area is also very nice and you get plenty of space between the tables.

The staff are excellent - attentive and helfpul.

We will be going back.

We stopped for an early meal enroute to Exeter. Although we were the only diners at 6pm, the room was warm and inviting with a open fire, soft lights and ambient music. Another good thing was the very comfortable dining chairs - so comfortable it was a real effort to leave and resume our journey.
We both ordered the sea bass which was on special and it was scrummy. Perfectly cooked, moist and tasted amazingly fresh. I also have to agree with a previous reviewer about the sticky toffee pudding - my partner ordered it and it was very good. I had the creme brulee - not as good as the STP - but you can't win every time!
I was fascinated to see a wall mounted tv screen near our table that was linked to a camera in the kitchen and allowed us to see the progress of our order. The chef may be star of the very small screen at the moment but he certainly deserves an award for brilliant cooking!

Me and some friends had just spent the weekend away and book a meal at The Halfway Inn before we seperated on our merry way. It was a Sunday and had confirmed earlier with emails that they did a carvery and made a reservation. The Ladies were on time, but us fellas were a little delayed after playing golf, but this was no hassle for them at all. When we arrived we were given a very warm welcome made to feel at home.
The atmosphere was perfect, light music with the crackling of the roasting fire nearby. The Food was exceptional and can highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and honeycomb ice-cream, probably best ive tasted. The visit was all over far to soon and we left very pleased and happy we encountered the friendly staff and amazing food.
