“Very enjoyable stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

We had a wonderful night at the White Hart! The room was lovely and cosy, but still spacious, and very nicely decorated. Surprisingly quiet considering it's attached to a pub, and we were there on a Friday. Included cooked breakfast was very nice as well. Will definitely stay here again!

The White Hart is an old coaching inn with loads of period features. When we arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Although only staying for one night, we were given free parking in their own private car park for the whole of the next day too. Also 20% off meals in their pub restaurant. The rooms have been refurbished, very clean and comfy, all ensuite. Although part of the Marstons brewery chain, it was very individualised. Price included very nice cooked breakfast, waitress service. As well as a real find, this hotel is a real bargain!

Our stay was perfect. Single rooms were comfortable and not pokey - unlike experiences with single rooms in other hotels. Staff were helpful, food reasonable, great atmosphere throughout, and very conveniently situated. Will use this hotel whenever visiting Exeter.

When we stayed at The White Hart Hotel in Exeter we were greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. After we checked in and looked at our room which was very clean they had also put bottles of water and ear plugs plus chocolate chip cookies with the tea and coffee. we went to look at the bar very friendly too meals very inexpensive you could have a meal for 2 for £15.00 plus you got a free bottle of wine they also gave people who are staying in the Hotel an extra 20% of the billo food and service were excellent. After spending one night we decided to stay an extra night which was only charged at the price we paid through Laterooms for the first night no extra charge. We were also a little late for breakfast the staff were very understanding and still offered to get us a fried breakfast if we wanted even though the kitchen was about to finish up. We were so happy with the service we can't wait to go back to the Whie Hart Hotel very soon

Staff-Reception and breakfast staff polite, helpful, efficient.Bar staff quite the opposite with exception of just one girl.Unhelpful, surly, and fed up when we produced voucher for free drink.Despite being party of 4 adults and 3 children, all eating and drinking (and two of us resident) we were not impressed by attitude.(Children's burger ordered then mysteriously"off menu") ...........asked whether we could make two separate lunch orders thus 2 bottles of free wine as offer one bottle if £15 spent (WE spent over £150 in total) and told "NO".Room basic and no shaver point.Bare essentials.Parking a plus, well positioned, but bar staff not up to scratch.Felt like a Travel Lodge.Other hotels in Exeter warmer, more attention to detail, same price, thru Late Rooms. We visit Exeter frequently, staying in various establishments, and would not go back.

Room Tip: We were in extension and guess all the same.Asked about razor points.Told there were none.

We stayed at this hotel three times at the tail end of last year. What a gem! Having stayed in other more, so-called, 'up-market' hotels in Exeter, we were very pleasantly surprised by this one. The first time we stayed we had theatre tickets so decided to stay overnight in Exeter and just booked because it was convenient for the theatre. We then didn't hesitate to book again for a couple of Christmas functions we were attending.
The staff are welcoming and cheerful, the rooms are very comfortable, clean and of a good size (we stayed in the newer part each time) and the breakfast is adequate. We also ate at the hotel on a couple of evenings and the menu is varied, even for vegetarians like us. Meals are served in the fabulous old part of the hotel, surrounded by books. Bliss! The bar's not half bad, either.
Since we stayed at the weekend each time, there was noise outside the hotel but what does one expect from a city centre hotel? Earplugs are provided though we didn't use them.
We particularly liked the provision of bottles of water, as well as the usual teas and coffees, in the rooms. Oh yes, and the free wi-fi!
I highly recommend this hotel but shop around for a bargain price, we paid a different amount each time.

Fantastic hotel in the centre of town. Room was in the 70's extension to the rear but well renovated and spacious. The breakfast was a little slow but plentiful and tasty. The pub is excellent as well with lots of character and good food. Free parking and wifi is a bonus. Only downside was a cheap mattress but slept well anyway after an evening in the bar!
PS If you're visiting Sandy Park for the rugby then the hotel will book you a taxi for a fixed price of £18....the standard rate is £12 if you book it in the street.

And a 'Cider Bar' that opens at weekends and was newly refurbished in October 2015 & is where breakfast is served every morning. The pub also boasts an exclusive 'Secret Garden' very popular with couples.
