Took a twin room heremid-week when my daughter and I visited Exeter so she could recce the university.
Our room was immaculate with a fairly newly installed (shower only) en-suite. Plenty of hot water when needed. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Only niggle was the lack of a net curtain in the bay window, which meant either no daylight when getting ready in the morning or exposing yourself to the rush-hour traffic on the busy A377 road into the town. Free parking, and the proprietor was kind enough to allow us to leave our car until mid-afternoon the following day (check out was 10.30am) when we left town. Full English breakfast was good.
We did book this one on the basis that it was a four star hotel - unfortunately four stars is stretching it a bit. The dining room isn't used outside of a the ninety minute breakfast service window in the mornings, with the catering provision for guests outside of this time being a list of local restaurants and take-aways. No bar on site, although you can purchase drinks from the Reception to take back to your room. Consequently not sure how this grading was awarded?
Overall a sound B&B at reasonable cost. Our twin room came in at £83.00 for the night.More
