“Good, clean hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

This is a decent business hotel. The room I had was a single and if you intend to swing cats or even a solitary cat you will have one (or two) unhappy felines. However ; if you want a clean, reasonably appointed room for not a bad price it's fine. The road outside is fairly busy and, since where I live it's very quiet, I couldn't sleep with the windows open. Breakfast is ok but not great, staff very good and friendly Easter Europeans. Parking available. I think for the price and cleanliness it is worth a bit more than average.

Although very reasonably priced with all the exras expected of a 4* I would say the let down is the bedding, it just didn't seem very clean to me. Rooms very warm and very noisy if you open the window!!
Cheap though and a good cheap Harvester restaurant 5 minutes away. Ok if you're not too fussy.

Arrived at the hotel to be met by a rude receptionist with no idea of customer service and a minimal grasp of the English language.

The mattress had a gully down the middle of it, it was so old...!

Breakfast waitress had the same attitude as the receptionist and an even worse grasp of the English language.

There are many many hotels in Exeter and I will be staying with one of them in the future.

A late booking at a busy weekend. Quality of accommodation and service superb, and at a very reasonable price, though absence of lift, not mentioned in booking, a slight problem for my wife. Main road, but noise not obtrusive.
The address info provided by you omitted road name and number. Drivers without sat. nav. might be in trouble.

I've stayed here three times now and have always found it to be impeccably clean, friendly and a perfect location for seeing Exeter and the surrounding area. There is a good car park, the rooms have everything you need including alarm clock, hair dryer and there's an iron and ironing board on the landing too. The rooms at the front can be a little noisy if you're not used to traffic, ask for a room at the back if so. The rooms at the front also get a lot of direct sun so they can be quite hot, but that doesn't detract from this being a very good hotel, with generous breakfasts and comfy surroundings.

You're only a 5 minute walk from the quay and another 5 into Exeter. There's also a train station nearby (St Thomas) and its 90p to the centre. My partner was doing a cookery course at River Cottage and was able to get to Axminster really easily.

Bicton Park is worth a visit, but it's £9 per adult so worth going for a while with a picnic.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you don't like road noise. It's quite a busy street and there...

Arrived later in the day and the man on reception was bordering on grumpy!! Refused point blank to assist with any luggage and it went down hill from there. Rooms were nice with a good sized shower and breakfast was fine...the staff in the breakfast area struggled with English but they were very pleasant. Rooms were very hot. Parking on site was great. Nothing to really rave about

Room Tip: If you are lucky you will get the woman on reception that others speak highly of that we didn't...

Despite the unhelpful proprietor the hotel was clean and comfortable and well situated or walking to eateries for dinner. The girls who served breakfast were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was plentiful and varied. Water pressure was strong and the shower, albeit small was hot and the towels were nice and large. The on-site parking was great!

The room I had on the top floor was hot, stuffy and airless despite the large window which I left open all night - although friends on the floor below had no problems.

All in all it was ok but because of the unhelpful ness I mentioned earlier I wouldn't stay again.
