“A nice hotel few minutes drive from Exeter Airport.”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

A typical Holiday Inn Express Hotel which is just what my wife and I want after a long journey. The rooms are very comfortable and its so nice to have a choice of pillows on the bed and a sofa in the room. There is
an excellent pub/restraunt next door for an evening meal.

We normally stay at Premier inns but came across this hotel via a 2 night offer on Lastminute.com which we went for in light of the previous good reviews of the hotel.

We can only agree with all the positive things which have been said about location, quietness, room cleanliness and use of space. I also found our room very nicely lit (some hotel rooms can be a bit gloomy) with a wide range of lights and particularly liked the LED reading lights on the bed. It was nice to have a sofa as well. The hotel also seemed very new.

The breakfast was a nice inclusion (at Premier Inn you have to pay quite a lot extra for this) as was a complementary newspaper. Okay the food was basic but good enough for a few night's stay (may have got a bit samey for more than a few nights) and excellent to have the mini fry-up option! I think porridge would be a good addition to the offering. We didn't eat at the pub next door but at the Black Horse Inn one night and the Otter Inn another (both reviewed separately).

The only reason we have not given 5/5 is because we would have much preferred to have Freeview on the TV than a few selected satellite channels (surely Freeview would be more cost-effective?) We also thought that there could have been some coat hooks provided (or more hangers) and more hooks in the bathroom for hanging up wet towels, etc. It also would have been good to have a rack of leaflets of places to go in reception.

Overal though, an excellent experience and would now definitely consider Holiday Inn Express for other trips.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback on Tripadvisor, we really appreciate it.

I am pleased our Hotel met all your needs and requirements. We do have a few leaflets kept behind our front desk, however we do like to encourage our guests to ask our reception team on local places to visit, as we like to offer a more personal service. Our team would be pleased to share any information on request.

Also, I am pleased to say we are going to be offering freeview on all of our TV’s in the first quarter of 2013.

Thank you again and we look forward to welcoming you back again.

Kind Regards

This Holiday Inn is ok for a few nights, its very clean and the rooms are comfortable. If your at the front of the hotel you may get some traffic noise. Its quite a distance from the town centre but the park and ride is right opposite and better than trying to park in the city centre. The breakfast they offer is not extensive but not bad , they have sausages , scrambled egg, beans etc if you want a hot breafast or cereals , yoghurt and rolls if not.

Holiday inn apparently offer your bedroom for free if you can find the price cheaper on another public web site....... which I am sure encourages people to book directly; however we found a CONSIDERABLE saving using the AVIOS web site......
I queried this with HIExpress but was told that the AVIOS web site was not available worldwide and was a members site so not 'public' !!!!
Hotel was fine, (Our 3rd stay) basic, spotlessly clean, and fine for a single nights stay. There was a little road noise as our room was the last one on the end of the building, but considering the hotel was full otherwise quiet. Staff were bright and cheerful.
Breakfast room was not very inspiring with watery juice, supermarket style bread and artificial yogurts but sticking to a pot of tea and cereal it is fine. They have introduced a limited range of decent rolls and a few hot items which is good, and check out was easy.
The hotel is well located for the main M5 etc but is miles from the center of Exeter, if this is important to you....

Dear Guest,

You are right in stating our company does have a ‘Best Price Guarantee’ where as if a cheaper rate is found elsewhere we will match it. Subject to the policies terms and conditions. I am pleased our team at Central Reservations explained themselves clearly and the issue was resolved and clarified.

I have noted your comments regarding the juice and bread and I will be sure to share your feedback with the team on duty to ensure the same great quality is assured at all opportunities. The yoghurt we supply is the Muller Light brand.

I am extremely pleased you have used our Hotel on more than one occasion and found the Hotel meets all of your requirements.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Kindest Regards

The Holiday Inn Express in Exeter, is located in a business district, close to the freeway and other roads. Our room was at the ground floor and basically ok. The bathroom was small but clean.
The Breakfast is very basic. It's a buffet but the buffet room ist quite crowded. The hotel has only a bar but no restaurant but there is a pub close by, right on the other side of the parking place for lunch or dinner.

Thank you for your online feedback. It is great to hear your comments regarding your stay with us.
We have received some fantastic comments regarding the choice of soft or firm pillows in our bedrooms, we have found that this accommodates the requests of quite a number of our guests.
I am delighted you enjoyed your stay and that it met with your expectations.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
