We have been several times lately for a carvery. Very polite staff, helpful and a good honest roast. Plenty of different meats to choose from (And a few Veggie alternatives which my son says was very nice) and stacks of nice looking, not overcooked veg. Several different gravies including Vegetarian and Gluten free. They will even plate up carvery seperately for you as 'Gluten free' if you ask them to make sure its not contaminated with Yorkshire puds etc. Fairly clean although a bit of 'sticky table' syndrome and the toilets could do with a complete deep clean and overhaul as very manky around edges, skirtings etc although perfectly usable. Its not the best place or the most,up to date, or brand spanking new furnishings etc - and the wall art.pictures leaves something to be desired........ But if you want a standard well cooked roast on a Sunday and no need to book-just turn up-then it fits the bill. And no washing up either! We will definitely go again.

i haven't stayed at the hotel and i hope the reviews i read were by jealous competitors, but the carvery we had on sunday 5-2-12 was the best i have ever had. There was even individual gravey for different meats. the only fault I could make was there being too much veg; to choose from and i could hardly walk out of the door

. The place was heaving and we were lucky not to have to wait too long for a table, as we hadn't booked . Cant wait to come again.

Due to a large family party at Christmas I booked my son and his girlfriend in here as its close by. I don't think the place employs chambermaids or cleaning staff and it was filthy. As for the general state of the place, if you're old enough to remember the original Crossroads on TV, they obviously modelled themselves on that back in the Sixties or Seventies and haven't bothered updating since. Food is mediocre but at least marginally edible, unlike The Barn Owl closeby which is appalling.

The pub is amazing, love the food, service is great but step over to the accommodation! Yuk!

The bath still had someone's pubes in it (sorry for being crude) it had water stains all round like it hadn't been cleaned in months let alone every time a person stayed there. Cillet bang will have to work stupidly hard! Very expensive considering you only get continental breakfast. Absolutely reaks of gone off corn on the cob as you walk the trek to your room.

Oh and you may as well sleep on the floor, the mattress would wake the deaf old dear sleeping 7 doors down. Very uncomfortable!

In all honesty terrible. But again its worth visiting the pub for a carvery though!

And considering I definitely do not complain this says how bad it was!

Booked a room for disabled use ,they said we could have the biggest room as my Husband cannot walk any distance because of emphysema and we were also quoted the price, when we arrived we were asked for a totally different price and told that the room we booked was not available due to the previous occupant extending his visit, when we queried the price the very indifferent receptionist just said ok have it at the price you were quoted, the room we given was in a corridor that was dark and narrow(and yes it smelled), so narrow that you could not fully turn the wheelchair round, the wheelchair did not even fit through the door without folding and there was no room to wheel the wheelchair anywhere in the room, this caused my Husband great difficulty, the bathroom had mould around the edge of the sealant, wallpaper was peeling of the wall and pelmet, and it looked like the door at some time had been forced open as there was a big gap around the door frame ....this place is advertised as being disabled friendly..no way, it is an absolute disgrace should be closed down till it is refurbished or rebuilt, booking out time , no staff around except for cleaners in the pub, so no chance to comp[lain.... food in the carvery is fantastic

Not my first visit so I knew what to expect. The room itself was clean although decor direct from the 70's and has not been touched since! The WC cistern top was from a differnt one did not fit and you had to be careful not to knock it. If you did it would be on your head. Bathroom was poor. Shower weak and tempramental. Bathroom in the bigest need of revamp. Matress was terrible. Worst night sleep I have had for ages and has aggravated my back! Unfortunately did not find this out until I laid on it after my evening out. Too much upeval to complain at that stage.
BUT I did in the morning and was thanked for my input and advised that I could of changed rooms if I wished on the night..
Smelt like the previous occupant had a crafty fag in the room :(
All things considered it is good value and OK for a nights stay. Not a week though! Breakfast for a small upgrade was fantastic.

Room Tip: OK for a 1 night stop over. go for carvery b/fast

I arrived on a Saturday to what I can only discribe as the worst place I have ever stayed. The corridors are dark and smelt horrid the room had not had any form of decoration in many years, although the bedding was clean everything else was old discoloured and smelt foul. I had asked for a cot bed which they provided, but the blanket they gave me for it had dry crusty baby sick on it.
