Description: We are a daytime restaurant with lovely views of Exeter Cathedral and the green. We have outdoor seating and seating on two floors inside. Open for breakfast, lunch, Sunday Roasts, and afternoon teas, we source from local, small suppliers as it's good for the environment and the food tastes better. Our coffee is excellent, our choice of teas extensive (no teabags here), and wines, beers, ciders, and lagers produced by small, local family businesses. Open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. This is an independent, owner operated restaurant. We give 1% of our profits to Medecins sans Frontieres. Cream Teas are served from 230pm (We recognise that not serving cream teas at lunchtime is not a popular policy and admit we do this partly for economic reasons. Better to be up front and honest about it!). We are generally a daytime only restaurant, but we open in the evenings during graduation week, on Fridays in the summer, and for private functions (please phone us if you are interested)

Went to Tea on the Green again to try their breakfasts (since they were doing a half price offer), enjoyed the food, but wasn't blown away. I've always loved their drinks and cakes, but the breakfast was a little lack lustre and luke warm. Otherwise it was nice to eat and look over the Cathedral Green, and was very good value at half price!

Good location, decent menu, good attentive service, reasonably priced. Food was, well, OK, maybe I chose the wrong dish, should have ordered all-day breakfast. A bit cramped, would ideally have liked a bit more space. Otherwise fine, will return, probably for an afternoon cream tea.

the food here is really unique! the drinks are great and local with a lot to choose from. I really enjoy coming here, just wish the tables weren't so close together.

Although we've lived in Exeter for years this was our first visit to Tea on the Green.

We were tempted in by the special of fish stew which was advertised in the window. Sadly that turned out to be the previous day's special but today's smoked haddock risotto with crispy courgette beignets went down well with my companion.

I had steak and mushroom pie which was fairly average and the veg were boring ( peas and carrots) and slightly overlooked.

The menu was varied and interesting. As well as a fish dish of the day they offer a curry of the day which was squash and Swiss chard when we were there.

The NZ house Sauvignon was really good - I'd be tempted back for that. What really made it for us was the waiter who was friendly without being intrusive and extremely efficient. It makes you realise how much difference skilled front of house staff make.

We will definitely return!

We have been coming here regularly since it was taken over by the new owners a couple of years ago, the breakfasts are varied and of a very high standard, they will also accomodate any fancies you have if it is possible, the coffee is properly made and there are plenty of choices as well as a large range of teas. I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which is made with three eggs and my wife had the poached eggs on toast, both meals were excellent and combined with a large carafe of coffee set us up for a hard days shopping in town, they have recently introduced a breakfast hash which combined with eggs or bacon will certainly fill you up. The service is always superb with very attentive staff, although we dont usually do lunch we have found that it is neccesary to book due to its popularity, all in all one of the unsung little places that make life worth living, especially on a quiet saturday morning.
