Description: We are a daytime restaurant with lovely views of Exeter Cathedral and the green. We have outdoor seating and seating on two floors inside. Open for breakfast, lunch, Sunday Roasts, and afternoon teas, we source from local, small suppliers as it's good for the environment and the food tastes better. Our coffee is excellent, our choice of teas extensive (no teabags here), and wines, beers, ciders, and lagers produced by small, local family businesses. Open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. This is an independent, owner operated restaurant. We give 1% of our profits to Medecins sans Frontieres. Cream Teas are served from 230pm (We recognise that not serving cream teas at lunchtime is not a popular policy and admit we do this partly for economic reasons. Better to be up front and honest about it!). We are generally a daytime only restaurant, but we open in the evenings during graduation week, on Fridays in the summer, and for private functions (please phone us if you are interested)

We tried it for lunch on a grey Sunday afternoon, and it turned out a very pleasant experience. Great teas and wines, nice food, with a selection from simple to more complex, and friendly, helpful service. The place itself has a lot of character and a feeling of culture and history and also the superb views of the Cathedral. We have to try dinner now!

Warm, friendly welcome on a wet Thursday. First class food and service to match. Sausages and mash with carmelised onions and gravy went well with execellent pot of loose leaf tea! Great view of Cathedral.

A very nice and old, but quaint, tea room with good coffees, cakes, and proper teas. They have a nice outdoor seating right on the Cathedral Green too. Very charming.

We were made most welcome by a personable staff member. Nothing was too much trouble - not even our bulky pram or a 3 year old toddler. We chose our seat by the window overlooking the Cathedral and were given the most attentive service. The menu was explained- and the provenance of the cream given as 'Blanche', a pure bred Guernsey cow! The cream teas were delicious - scones crunchy on the outside, warm and melting on the inside. The cream lived up to its hype and the farm-made blackcurrant jam - just lovely. More coffee came when asked (one of us had a cream coffee- not a cream tea!) and extra cream when we had devoured Blanche's first offerings. An excellent, atmospheric venue in a historic area. Just perfect. (In the summer the scones taste even better oustide!)

Lovely to find a cafe with such a good selection of loose leaf teas. And a cracking Sunday Roast! I'll definitely be back.
