After spending a week at the Poachers Inn, I am really looking forward to staying there again for another week.
The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and warm. The food menu is excellent, very tasty, plentiful and filling.
Great value for money. Thankyou.

Just back from Sunday lunch and the food was top quality. Fresh and delicious main course with the most yummy key lime pie for pudding. The service was friendly and the atmosphere for our family get together was just right. Will definitely be returning when next visiting.

Went for a Sunday lunch and I've never seen such generous portions and such great value
Dog friendly great location very quiet once the D&C police helecopter went away :)
Slow down when you drive up or you will miss the tight turn into the large car park

The atmosphere in this pub is great, what a pub should be. However the food we had was very poor. The Pate was slopped onto the plate in huge amounts with 3 rounds of toast and hard butter and didn't really taste of much. For the main course I actually went for a vegi option which was a spinach and feta pie. They had clearly used very old frozen spinach which tasted of nothing but tea leaves with hardly any feta and no seasoning at all. Half a round of this tasteless pie was thrown on to the plate.

I believe if you go you should choose one of the basic/traditional meals such as Roast dinner or scampi & chips which they do well because there is no complex cooking required.
What I would say to the pub is.. if you can't cook it well don't put it on the menu! My review would have been higher if so.

We have been here a few times for a drink but this weekend was the first stopover as it was a special occasion.
Always a warm and freindly place and it even extentended to our mutts. Great atmosphere, lovely open fire and comfy settees.
We had the 4 poster room and it was lovely although some renovation needed in the bathroom. Central heating makes some odd noises, at least we think it was the CH :)
Breakfast was a good and tasty honest english.

I stayed here recently for a meeting locally. I have stayed at other "higher" class venues or branded operations, but they aren't very good. This was a good honest room, at a good honest price.
The staff and locals made me feel very welcome ( they had been to the races that day ) - it was a great night, with great food and an excellent beer selection.

True, the room was a little tired, but how important is that - your choice....good rooms = more cost, robotic staff, poor food, or this lovely little place with a roaring open fire ....

See you again....you can count on it.

Stayed here one night as I was attending a meeting near by. The room was very clean, spacious and good value. It also had a four poster bed. Don't the odd frayed carpet put you off. It's a good basic B&B.

It's above a pub so you have to accept that there will be a degree of lively chatter coming from there during the evening. The pub itself is cosy and friendly with a selection of real ales - my type of place.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. Tony, the Landlord was very welcoming and helpful when I needed directions etc. Boot the dog was also very welcoming.

Ide is a nice traditional English village and I would certainly consider making this a base if ever I want to spend a prolonged period touring the area.

Room Tip: Rooms are accessed by a narrow, winding staircase, so would not be suitable for people with mobility...
